Hazy days in Pattaya

The incinerator plant in Huay Yai must contribute a lot to this pollution, i often go Makro early in the morning as the sun is coming up and when you pass over the new flyover coming from 331 to Chak Nell you can smell it immediately and see the whole cloud drifting down towards Pattaya and Jomtien, the incinerator plant is on the right as you approach the flyover.

Also in the exact same area, at the left side are a huge amount of smoldering heaps where BBQ coal is being made - quite a sizeable operation there, again creating huge clouds of smoke that drift towards Pattaya and Jomtien at this time of year!!

I have to smile, Pattaya is More polluted than normal!!! Come on it's always been bad, I lived there for several years before it finally drove me out some 12 years ago, and it was bad then and it's not got any better.

All you have to do is drive down from BKK Any day Any time of the year. And there it is in the distance. A thick haze hovering over the place. I was there some weeks ago visiting friends on Holiday, as luck would have it only 3 days. Arrived with a clean white car left with a grey one as it was covered in dust.

If you have chosen to live there full time you will just have to put up with it. As it's not going to get any better. Just make sure you have good health insurance.

Beautiful day today in Pattaya , Naklua area.

I measure only 10 outside or AQI 42 , the lowest I have seen for a while.

Compare it with what it was a couple of days ago and spot the difference .

This would fit with the current wind that is shown to come from south-east.

So the dust/smoke could also come from as far as the terrible (polluted) industrial area of Map Ta Phut?

I ordered a monitor from Lazada (China)

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/crazy-28-pm25-air-air-i278961202-s449228184.html

When it arrives I'll post a review,  I chose this one as it seems to have the PMS5003 laser dust particle sensor that could with some hacking also be used with Arduino or Raspberry Pi which could add nice graphs etc.

Ok it arrived  a little bit worse for wear  although it was wrapped well (no box)

maybe someone sat on it !

but was easy to fix just by re screwing the plastic screws ( bit of luck)

at  6pm yesterday

ok shut the windows and doors and fire up the aircon...with just a normal

came with the aircon filter no special HEPA filters.

After a couple of hours

and in the morning

it does indeed use the PMS5003 particle sensor  and what looks like a DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor ( so easy Arduino and Raspberry pi  project compatible)

streets littered and sewerage problems left unchecked.
