Ex-Thai PMs Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra sighted by me at terminal 2 heathrow today

Featured Replies

I am an airport transfer taxi company, last night I slept in the back of my taxi at Fleet services (M3) due to the snow, I woke up at 3 am and drove to terminal 2 to meet my customer off a flight from Heathrow terminal 2, my customers flight landed at 6.20am and i drove early in case condtions got worse. Off the Singapore flight I swear no word of a lie was who looked exactly like Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra walking past me at arrivals. I would have taken a photo, but I had concern that the Thaksins might be dangerous and might assume I was either a spy or a journalist. I don't know if there dangerous or not, but I kid you not it looked exactly like them both. There were travelling unaccompanied and were met and greeted by another driver.

There bags said they had flown from Singapore, the flight arrived at around 6 am this morning at terminal 2, i can get the flight numbers but i believe fully it was them

Just a heads up Thai visa,

Did you see Elvis, he was on the same flight!

Jamesmcleod time for you to go lie down, too much excitement is not good for you.:cheesy:

That must have been a shock.

Maybe you should be prepared for next time you see them. Keep a box of rotten eggs near you. And a camera.

I am sure you could sell pictures of those two with rotten eggs on their faces for millions.

What on earth is wrong with you lot that you think the OP deserves those sorts of sarcastic  responses?   And what exactly did Thaksin do to any of you to deserve the opprobium heaped on him? Come to that what did the lovely if gauche and naive Yingluck do to any of you too?

(Yeah, you wish!!)

My wife came from a poor farming family up north, she thinks Thaksin was beloved by the poor because, unlike the other governments, his actually for all it's faults helped the poor and not the rich. She thinks everyone in poor communities would far rather have Thaksin back even if totally corrupt because unlike the current "government at gunpoint" the poorest did better with Thaksin than with Prayut and his sycophantic mob of hangers-on or any of the other Hi-so lot.

So they live in exile now and travel about - so what, you only have the Army's word for their corrupt practices and can you trust those who are sworn to defend the people and the country yet constantly rebel and steal it at gun point and continually lie?

All that snow, i am surprised you didn't see a Yeti.

Should anybody else spot the traveling Shinawatras I can offer the following sage advice :

The farce is strong in this one.

Would have been more interesting if the report was from swampy ????

It seems for many Thais, especially poor farmers, it is perfectly ok to have a corrupt businessman making billions as long as he gives the poor families also a thousand baht here and there.

An educated (?) farang should know better.

It's sad that many Thai politicians ignored up-country for so long. But voting for a corrupt criminal, his little incompetent sister or any of his lackeys won't make their life much better.

I thought my life was boring, makes me feel like I get out too much......

Picture or it never happened.

OP, could you keep an eye out for the Red Bull youngster?

sad when someone tries to make an informative post and most of what he gets are dumb, sarcastic replies

fwiw- I believe both Shinawatras have long-term residency visas for the UK so it would not be any surprise if they were seen flying in and out

Absolutely agree. Affordable medical care, roads, infrastructure in rural areas, micro loans, access to schools for poor kids... Sure he was corrupt but he did a huge amount of good. The current regime on the other hand is all about the rich getting richer, keeping the tax dollars in Bkk, and the serfs in place at gunpoint.

Hope Thaksin's people come back after the elections. Will be fun to watch the contortions the military will go into to keep their grip.

Agree. Why should it not be possible.

Many photos and videos of Thaksin and the family here and there.

I know it's not really news at all, I know it's not very interesting, but having gone to Thailand for many years I am fairly aware of what they look like, but I have never seen either of them in the flesh until I believe yesterday (01/02/19). Having not seen them in the flesh before yesterday, I had doubt in my mind it could be them, however even if it was Yingluck on her own I would think it was her, and even if it had been Thaksin on his own I would have thought it was him, but they were together which made me more convinced as they both looked exactly as they do on the TV (television).

It's not really news at all, I guessed they have business interests in the UK and if it was them IMO they must have a visa due to their wealth (business category) or assylum.

I wasn't reporting it to show off, this is just an internet forum and like hell someone who posts here could be deemed credible without a track record, my track record is none on here, but they did as it happens look like them and while I did not get a photo due to respecting them and not wanting to cause an issue (Airport pick ups are work to me), I personally believe it was them.
