An elderly couple living on their own in a house in Phitsanulok's Muang district were found dead on Thursday morning in what is believed to be a fatal accident and a suicide.

The couple were found in their house in Moo 2 village in Tambon Wat Chan.

Police said the husband, Charoon Siriwat, 89, died of suffocation after he apparently hanged himself to a ladder with a power cable.

The body of his wife, Boonma Siriwat, 82, was found in the kitchen. She had a big wound on her head.

Their neighbour, Suparp Thamma, 60, told police that she was drying clothes when she looked inside the house and saw the husband's body.

She alerted the couple's relatives, who called the police A doctor determined that the husband died about three hours later.

Nakhon Jinjaitrong, a grandson, said the two lived alone in the house because their children had moved to Bangkok.

He said his grandma normally woke up at 4am to prepare breakfast for his grandpa, who woke up later.

Nakhon believes his grandma slipped, her head hit the sink and she died of head injury. He thought his grandpa might have woken to see his beloved wife dead and committed suicide.

The police have yet to check CCTV to see whether anyone entered the house.

Tragic...  but to find a love worth dying for and having lived together for so long is a life well lived.

if so ... but

what about that she was devastated because she did not know what to do on her own? Deadly dependancy?

Anyway tragic.

It is suspected that ‘he’ hung himself after finding ‘her’ on the floor with a head wound....

Maybe he didn’t know what to do on his own... Your version - he doesn’t know how to live without help.... my version - he doesn’t want to live without her....

Then there was the question, "who's going to make me breakfast"? it was just too much.
