Am I that obscure? It loses something when I have explain it! So far 15 people seem to like it - I assume they understood the pun? My post (#10) was in reply to ZeVonderBearz's comment: "Petty theft. Hardly worth an article on a well respected site like this is it? More pressing matters out there one thinks" It was purely a play on words 'more pressing matters'. I searched for TVF for 'trouser press'. simon43's post was the only result. I see the original post has been removed, but my reply to it hasn't (yet!) 5

Inn Between Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Where else in the world does an incident of shoplifting make the national TV news broadcast? I wish Thais weren't so insecure about themselves that they feel the need to do this type of thing when non-Asian foreigners are involved in petty crime. I guess they feel it makes them look better in some type of weird comparison, but I suspect most people see it as only being infantile and desperate. 2

Thieves use guns and kill these days. Are they allowed to do that now? The whole situation is ugly and sad. And yes, they still do it, not physically but psychologically. How many convicted of a crime have said something to the effect of they said whatever the police wanted them to say just to get out of the interrogation room. Yes, they still do it.

Been watching documentaries about wrongful convictions in the US based on testimony of the defendant. Its bad what happened in some cases even death penalty cases. So yes it happens and they still do it. (and yes we had a bad case of bad policing in the Netherlands too)

Several 7/11 around Pattaya klang have reputations for dropping an odd item in the basket without scanning it. Then saying you take without pay. A German associate was taken for 4000 baht, over a tube if toothpaste. Threats of monkey house and visa cancel. Plus language issues. Big C has a similar policy. Ten times the value if pulled up. And still call the police. So the contributions go even higher.. (Partners son worked Big C security). No offers to pay... no way.
