Work has begun on a new (replacement?) Tiger Kingdom on the road leading to the Big Buddha.

Vegetation on the formerly overgrown lot has been bulldozed and a new workers camp has materialized.

It has been rumored for some time that a tiger theme park will be sited there, and it appears work has now commenced.

One of the workers at the new camp confirmed it was to be a "tiger zoo".

Perhaps the controversial nature of such an attraction is part of the reason for little information forthcoming about the project.

The site is on Soi Yot Sane on the lower slopes of the hill before the first elephant camp.

Seems the Dolphinarium lead the way to exploitative "zoos".

I predict that this new Tiger Kingdom will be a huge hit with the Chinese.....

i predict you will be correct!

Took the g/f and daughter to Phuket zoo and thought it was disgusting.............filthy water, small dirty cages, rotten food lying around. Never went again.

Went to Saigon zoo last year (it was cheap), wish I hadn't gone, all the animals looked a bit limp and sad.

Tigers have come to Chalong!

The massive new Tiger Kingdom on the Big Buddha road is nearing completion and they have started moving tigers in to their new cages.

Should open soon for the tourists to pat a tame tiger.
