Chalermprakiat 8 made bumpy to slow speeders

Pattaya installed speed bumps on Soi Chalerm­prakiat 8 to stop people from speeding down the residential street.

 

Jirawat Plukjai, president of Chumsai Community, had requested that city hall have workers turn the smooth pavement into a “washboard” in two spots that force both cars and motorcycles to slow down.

 

He said many locals residents and children walk along the road and speeders were putting them in danger after school.

Apparently the speed bumps are the only reliable way to slow down speeders , and they don't except bribes...

The first couple of downpours when the monsoon arrives will wash it away.

 

In a well-designed system, you also have warning signs at either end of a series of speedbumps. That way the bumps are doubly effective without themselves causing accidents ...

Then just as everything else they will attract zero attention once any maintenance is required.

Don't forget the paint to show they are there, often  missing,  it  comes as a  nice  shock when you go over one.

Unpainted (as they almost always are)
they are hard to spot in daytime too, they often look like long shadows cast by the roadside pylons....anyway they have little effect to the "For-Tu-Na" drivers who just barrel on regardless.

I have been asking my wife to approach the village administrators to ask them to install speed bumps (sleeping policeman as they are called in Uganda), in front of her bar, to perhaps slowdown some of the underage Evel Knievals.  But, as you state they would just drive around the end unless a barrier was placed.
