Traditional Thai massage - where practitioners step and walk on people - is in the news after a poor food seller from Korat claims that her leg was broken.

Pranorm Thiangtrong, 46, was seen on a YouTube video in tears and on crutches after she was stepped on by Kiatsak  Chaiwimon, 21, also known as "Mor Pleum" or "Dr Happy".

Pranorm showed a Rayong hospital report that indicated her leg was broken at the neck of the femur.

She said that her mother is old, her son is at school in P5 and her life is a mess as she cannot afford an operation that would cost 130,000 baht.

She went to the police following her massage by the son of a well known Thai massage practitioner in Rayong called "Mor Thewada" or "Dr Angel". He is also known as "Dr Pack".

Kiatsak said it was true that Pranorm came in for treatment for a leg complaint. He denied breaking her leg and if the police issue a summons he will explain.

So far the massage establishment is refusing to take any responsibility for what happened at the end of last year.

Now the establishment may find themselves in more trouble. The Thai public health department plan to investigate the goings-on in Rayong, reported Channel 7.

If they are shown to be offering medical treatment without a licence the owner could face 5 years in jail or a fine of 100,000 baht or both.

I doubt the massage could break that bone. I suppose there must have been a preexisting condition, like cancer or a bone cyst. Bad luck for both of them. What does the X-ray show?

Had a "beach massage" a few years ago, all was good until the young lady massage "specialist" upped the intensity, around the shoulders and neck.  It took a month (or more?),  not be in severe pain when I moved my head in a particular position (knee buckling pain).   Anyone that has experienced an actual licenced/certified massage therapist (therapeutic or relaxation) , is familiar with the difference....

I have used the same parlour for 4 years. I can tell when they are not doing it right and stop them.   Owner makes sure new girl is told what to do and not do.   Also told what makes me happy and that I give really good  tip if treated right

I didn't know so far that there are so many medical doctors here on TV.

Congrats for your expertise

I have been injured a couple of times here in massage.

Achilles tendon pulled

Vertebrae bruised

Neck pain

I stick to special massage only now. ????

That's called a full body massage, where they mostly have only knowledge about the special parts..

ive had one massage here in the decades ive been here. It was a thai massage and the women was up on the table and using here feet to massage my legs. She slipped and kicked me in the balls! I can't for the life of me know if it was intentional or not.  She kept peeking under my towel thing. I wasnt after a happy ending it was a gift from the then girlfriend in a nice flashy super expensive place so wasnt even sure if it was appropriate to question. little regretful now but she didnt have to kick me in the dam balls for being a stick in the mud.. I walked out sore bruised and a little crooked but the worst was that i was completely covered in oil. I didnt get it then and i dont get it still. I think massages are for people that don't  need them...

Dr. is Happy, customer not so. Perhaps he's too heavy, needs some diet.

And perhaps he has no idea what he's doing. Or has he decided that his remedies work because he says so.

I wonder is he has any sort of certified training?

Or is he an attention seeker.

Had similar myself but the masseuse actually stood on one of my testicles. I've never been the same since.
