A female motorbike driver has died in a motorbike crash on Chalerm Phrakiet Rama 9 Road (Bypass road) early this morning.

Kusoldharm rescue workers headed to the accident scene on the Bypass road in Rassada at 3.30am today.

At the scene they found a damaged motorbike. Nearby they found Wilai Jamjan lying on the road. She had sustained a serious injury.  She was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police are continuing their investigation and checking CCTV footage.

(from the report)

Looks like hit and run. Would not be surprised.

Speeding or alcohol or both if it was hit and run.

looks like she may of been traveling in the fast lane, if so, why your asking for trouble, maybe no lights either ? RIP

You know neither. Why the stupid speculation.

The body and the bike are in the right hand most lane....  this is not stupid speculation, the only speculation there could be that the motorcycle and the body were thrown into the right hand lane by the impact.

Regarding the 'no lights' part of the above comment. Driving around town there is a significant amount of motorcycles without rear lights, even more so on Phuket for some reason - this is also no speculation. However, is its speculated that this lady's rear motorcycle lights may not have been working... Yes, this is speculation, but with a degree of probability given ones experience of driving around at night in Thailand and thus not a stupid speculation, but a possibility.

RIP to the lady. Whatever happened, it looks like a hit and run by a drunk (yes, speculation, but from the images at the scene, the time, and experience of such news being a commonality in Thailand its more likely a probability) - I hope they catch the hit & run driver if this is intact what happened - hopefully there is CCTV footage somewhere.

Because then the thread would be silent, and the armchair detectives even more bored and miserable then they already are.

It's a prerequisite for Thaigeezer Clouseaus I thought!

Where would we be without them.

Another wasted life (the woman, not the posters!)

This must be the only place on earth where carcasses are bowled down the road and abandoned in a heap every hour of every day????RIP

What we do know is there is no proper public transport in Phuket, compared with other similar tourist destinations in Thailand.

We also know is that a lot of these accidents occur late at night, with a strong suspicion alcohol being involved.

Put alcohol, and no other reasonably affordable way to get home, other than to ride or drive, and you have Phuket's disgraceful road fatality statistics.

How many people would still be alive to this very day if Phuket had similar transport options to other places in the country?

cos if that the case i dont really have a lot of sympathy for her. could of been you or i that hit her. you wouldn't feel the same way if that were the case.
