Following my time in the service I was exporting capital equipment globally before and after the single market. I saw first hand the benefits the single market brought to small companies looking to export. Selling to the EU became as easy as Scotland or NI. The first as you say is Parliament which spends its time defending its right to defy the people(those nasty little buggers they don't like or agree with) and secondly the government which, to outward appearances, defends the peoples judgement in the name of democracy but fails miserably when trying to defend its position in public debate. I don't think a General Election is the answer because neither party is fit to govern and as events have shown the people of the UK are disrespected by Remainers (as evidence look at some of the contributions by Remainers on this forum) and those who actually run the country. The last few weeks have been an ugly series of events.
