Rendering block wall

Featured Replies

I have about 200 sq. m of block wall to render -inside and outside. Does anybody know the approximate labour cost  per sq.m. of the rendering? All materials are supplied by me . Thanks in advance

I paid B80/m2 labour to render our office wall......the electricians did it and they did a better job of the render than the electrics....

Example from recent shop renovation in Bangkok. Proper cement coat team labour only using ready mix. Most walls straight and plumb one area required some double coat attention.

165 square metres plus approx 34 corners 26,000 Baht. About 160/M

Based on a boundary wall I just rendered, 50m2. bagged premix render cost me 8 bags @76bt  thats about 12bt/m2 for two coats.

Pricing a job by sq m is beyond most Thai manual workers. Better to look on how many days it should take times by their daily rate.

Thanks but I asked for labour cost per sq.m.

I know, I just wanted to know hiw you feel about what you spent on materials.

No it isnt, they always quote building the wall as m2 or lin m which still involves the complxities of foundations, columns masonry and rebar.

For rendering they would charge a linear m rate for columns and plinths of less than 300mm (met wang) and large areas as m2 (talang) to arrive at their price.

If you are lucky enough to get someone just pricing all in m2 rate on a wall then thats their lookout

The OP is not talking 'all in'. It's rendering only.  Doh.,

Correct, the boss does the calculations.

They do not work to the sq m. They work on day rates. Obviously depending where one lives. Where I live it's day rate.

Correct, the workers butter the walls and the boss pays them a day rate.

S'pose it's different where you live. For me and eyecatcher it's per m2, B80/m2 excluding materials. No way I'd pay for rendering on a day rate.

As with so many things here, rarely any consistency, last job I had done they did it by running meter !! time before that, purely time/job price based. Luck of the draw I call it. ????

On small jobs workers will often rough calculate time and day rate then spit out a price without using a measure. However, paying a bunch of workers on day rate until the job is complete would be asking for trouble.

The construction industry would grind to a halt without square meter estimates.

A quality cement coat team will measure a job to square meters and look for construction mistakes that could cost extra time and material.

Yes i know and because the job is only a rendering job then there is a very high chance a rendering subby will base his price on the elements I described.

A ceiling fixer would do the same, as would a decorator.

Feel free to ask me about standard methods of measurement as they are often used by "professionals"
