Guys

Either North or Richmond will be eliminated this weekend.

Will either of the coaches be in trouble?

Hardwick has been there for 5 years and Richmond have yet to win a final.

This will be their 3rd year in a row playing finals.

Scott on the other hand is in his 6th year. Got North to a prelim last year

after finishing 6th. If they go out this weekend, this year will be see as a failure,

especially after recruiting Waite and Higgins.

I think due to a few coachig positions being vacant this year, both will be safe but

under real pressure for next year.

Thoughts?

Hardwick. Failure?- No

North. failure? - Yes

Coaching change? Hardwick is solid this year.

North though.... Maybe a coaching change is needed there... but doesn't seem to be any pressure or talk about it. Can't see a change in the off season.

Yes yes pick north,i would like to see a new coach.

Problem is Bombers ,Crows need a coach and Blues have just appointed one.

I would prefer a seasoned coach, not a newbie as i dont think they would do any better.

The old adage of give me 5 years to sort it out dont work very often.

Worsfold would be welcome as Mark Harvey, maybe Longmire being an ex roobiggrin.png otherwise leave it.

I hope that Michael Voss get's another chance one day.

Reckon he just made a blue by taking on a senior gig without any experience.

Good players dont always make good coaches, however i think Voss is good/was as a coach.

Definately worth another go.thumbsup.gif

Even a Gary Eyres, for some reason backmen make better coaches.

bad timing for Voss in his coaching.

Birsbane board was fighting with power struggles and the club suffered internally through that I reckon.

Vossy made a huge error in recruiting Fevola and pushing out Bradshaw methinks.

I reckon in hindsight, he should've done his apprenticeship at WC first.

Even the great Leigh Matthews has said "coaching at senior is too hard to do without any experience".

On the subject of Brisbane, I've read Johnno Brown's autobiography and it's a cracker.

Browny's book would be an interesting read. I like him more the last year, having heard a lot of his insights on the AFL shows

Star Swan Franklin out of final against Freo with 'ongoing mental health condition'

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-09-08/star-swan-franklin-out-of-final-against-freo-with-ongoing-mental-health-condition

SYDNEY Y Swans star Lance Franklin is being treated for a mental health condition and has been ruled out of Saturday’s qualifying final against Fremantle.

The Swans released a statement on Tuesday and football manager Tom Harley said the club was doing everything possible to support the key forward

"Our first priority is looking after Lance’s health," Harley said.

"Lance has been open with the club about his condition and while we consider it a private medical matter, he is aware he has our full support.

"The timeframe on his return is unclear at this stage. He will certainly miss this week’s match and we will continue to monitor his condition."

Franklin joined the Swans as a restricted free agent at the end of 2013 and signed a nine-year, multi-million dollar deal that runs until the end of the 2022 season.

Franklin missed four matches from rounds 17 to 21 with a back injury and has been rusty in the past two weeks, being substituted in round 22 and kicking one goal in round 23.

I wonder if this medical condition existed when he was signed to a long term, extremely rich contract?

And if it did was it declared?

Hopeful it’s not career ending.

I'm sure there is a clause in the contract to anticipate this or similar eventualities.

It has been a interesting year in the AFL this 2015 season.

Seems each week has its own unique drama.

Physiologists are being kept busy this year at Sydney.

Get well soon Buddy.

Caught most of the presser, a question from one reporter asking the where Buddy was being treated (private health facility or at home) was met with a bit of shock from Horse who responded "not really any of your concern where Buddy is" so the club's right behind him on this and the Club will leave it up to Buddy to come back when he's ready...

Word from Robbo at the Herald Sun is that is to do with his epilepsy. Apparently he had an episode at a Cafe on Friday, was cleared by the docs at hospital and played against the Suns on Saturday. Bit of big effort to get up and about after that.

This goes back to when it first came out when he crashed his missus's Jeep last year.

Five Fremantle players named in 40-man 2015 All Australian squad.

Five Fremantle stars have been named in the 2015 Virgin All Australian Squad.

Lachie Neale, David Mundy, Garrick Ibbotson, Stephen Hill and Nat Fyfe were among 40 players nominated on Tuesday.

Fyfe is the only Fremantle player nominated this year to have previously been named All Australian (2014).

Fremantle is one of just five clubs to have five or more players named.

#ForTheFinals

The 40-man squad will be reduced to a final 22 on Tuesday 22 September in Melbourne.

The All Australian selectors were not asked to nominate the leading players in each section of the field - forwards, defenders and midfielders / ruckmen – but simply to name the best players of the season.

The final 22 will be selected to best-fit team balance as if to play a match.

Match Preview: Fremantle v Sydney

The All Australian selection panel is Gillon McLachlan (chairman), Kevin Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Mark Evans, Danny Frawley, Glen Jakovich, Cameron Ling, Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea, while the All Australian selectors, along with Kevin Sheehan, also choose the winner of the NAB AFL Rising Star Award.

Swans confirm Franklin's seizure

After careful consideration, the club can confirm that Lance Franklin suffers mild epilepsy – unrelated to the current mental health issues he is dealing with.

The Club can confirm that Lance suffered a mild epileptic seizure on Friday morning at a café near his home.

He was taken to hospital and discharged later that afternoon following consultation with a specialist. The Club has been aware of his condition for some time.

On Saturday morning, he was medically assessed and cleared to take his place in the team for Saturday night’s match against the Gold Coast.

This incident is not clinically linked to the mental health condition he is currently dealing with, and both Lance and the Club have considered it a private medical matter. However in light of recent media reports, the Club wishes to clarify the situation.

The boys on the couch did a good comparison on Monday night with the Swans scoring at an average of 109 points without buddy and 86 with ;)

Going to be a huge task but if any team likes a challenge it's the Maroubra Millionaires (I know I said Manly earlier but Maroubra is much closer to Bondi and is more or less the poorer cousin - depending on who you ask of course :P)

Hopefully old mates YouTube channel is updated tomorrow so can catch AFL 360 as both Horse and J Mac were slated to be on...

A late one for me last night watching the footy shows and cricket.

On Footy Classifieds last night, the panel said that a lot of clubs have already

gone cold on Harley Bennell.

I wonder if we might get another Ben Cousins scenerio where no one wants him?

I'd imagine his age will get him another contract but he might be a bargain pick.

Matty Lloyd was particularly critical. He sorted of predicted this 6 weeks ago when

he said Bennell is not to be trusted. Last night he said he was part of a coaching panel

that sacked Bennell at a footy clinic/tour when Bennell was only 17.

We might end up having another Dayle Garlett situation.

In other news, strong mail that Lews Jetta wants to go to WC (sorry boys).

Yeah, seems like jetta will go and he is a big loss. He is doing the classic, 'wait till the season ends to announce things'. But the fact Sydney has gone super quiet about it all says a lot too.

How do you think he will fit in at West coast? How will they use him?

At least a bit of good news this week for the Swans with Hanners storming home

to beat Fyfe by a point in the AFLCA award.

Star Swan swoops to pip Fyfe for AFLCA's top player award

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-09-08/swan-swoops-on-aflca-gong

yeah, Ffyfe missing those games helped.

What about the Brownlow?

Fyfe looked a lock..then from round 13 onwards.... loss of form then injury.

Could we see a smokie coming through?

I'm picking Sydney for this game.

Sydney are definitely Buddy centric and it hurts them sometimes. Go back to 2012 when we won, and we had Jetta and Pyke leading the way in goals? Sydney needs to get more Hawthorn like and simply look for the best option up front, not the Buddy option every time.

So when he is missing, we spread it around more.
