Removing Unwanted Water Lillies From A Lake

Featured Replies

Hi guys - just a quick update for this topic......  we didnt get a duck in the end, or poison the lotus, but we were granted permission by the lake owner to remove the lotus by hand

three neighbours and myself must have spent a total of 30 plus man hours removing the plants by pulling them out whilst wading in the water

it was very difficult to get the roots out at the same time, as the water was 4 - 5 feet deep.  after all the work and sore backs and sore hands we were worried the lotus would simply grow back, but after 15 or so small leaves appeared first day, very few appeared after that, and no the lake is lotus free again and looks much better ????

if we hadnt had acted, i am sure the 4 rai lake would now be covered in the unsightly plants, so it is great to have the beautiful lake back to its former glory

thanks guys for some good advice, and if you ever think a few wild lotus may look good in a lake, think again.  those things grow so fast!!!!!!!!!!

????????????????
