PHUKET: Patong Mayor Chalermluck Kebsup has announced that meetings will be held with local residents and businesses ahead of the project, commencing in July, to move power lines and fibre-optic cables underground.

On Monday (Apr 22), Mayor Chalermluck held a meeting with Patong Police and the project contractor to discuss the management of traffic flow during the construction work which is expected to last until March 2020.

The mayor ordered the contractor to compile a report outlining plans regarding traffic and parking during the scheduled eight-month period to be able to inform local residents and business owners of the impact the project will have on the area.

A contractor would have to be nuts to tackle a project like this.....either that, or be rewarded with a crazy high price bid.

And what happens as more cables are needed in the crazy Thai internet/phone system?

Draw new cables through the buried pipes and drawing out the old cables.

Digging a hole in te ground, putting in pipes and refill the holes isn't really a big deal.

Drawing wires into the pipes isn't difficult either, connecting the wires is a normal procedure also.

The biggest job is taking away old cabling and piles.

How about sitting down and discussing Road safety?

Should have been part of the RFP and not waiting until now.

A total joke using the asphalt cutter as shown.

Imagine the traffic if the slow moving muay thai promotional pickups are permitted to continue using the beach road once its been narrowed down to a single lane during construction.
