SSD memory cells degrade every time they are written on. To make them last longer they are designed to use every part of the free space so the wear is spread evenly and so they last as long as possible. This called 'wear leveling'. The more free space the SSD can use for the process of 'writing' to the memory cells, obviously, the longer the drive will last. If you aren't using the drive for much 'writing' (video editing, for example) it'll last a long time.

According to this, I should be good for the next 30 years!

I have 512gb nvme pcie ssd + 240gb sata3 ssd.

my nvme ssd is almost full, so I installed Forza 7 game to 240gb sata3 ssd. Just one game occupies 125Gb of space! I have a few games installed and new games use too much diskspace.

So yes, 480-500 gb ssd should be mainstream now.

Most people load their games to a conventional HDD.

Makes sense if they do as in terms of in-game performance, an SSD won't provide a significant performance advantage. It's really only the boot load times of the games that will be affected.

Gamers will have a decent amount of RAM available. Usually 16GB. So best to save your money

That SSD, perhaps.. But windows 10?

Yesterday I got a popup from Microsoft, informing that the support for windows 7 is ending.

Neat, I installed it on  21th of august 2009 and still running.

(folders do have date 14-7-2009 from the pre-release)
