Phitsanulok: Thai man's head split open by axe in jealous argument over friend's wife

Police called to a house on stilts in the Phrom Phiram area of Phitsanulok found 42 year old Bunreuang Phumphuang, 42, dressed only in shorts lying in a pool of blood. 

 

He was dead outside the house from a gaping wound in the left side of his head. A bloodstained axe was found in the house.

 

The house belongs to Bunyok Reuankon a friend of the deceased. Bunyok's sister Namfon found the body and was too scared to approach close. 

 

She believed it to be the dead body of her brother and ran to the house of her sister Bunchuay where her brother was alive and well. 

 

The police were then called and Bunyok was taken into custody, reported Thai Rath.

 

Bunyok gave a long explanation of what had transpired at his house.

 

He said that he had met up with Bunreuang and another friend called Somphote at 10 pm last night and he had gone to buy beer and spirits for them using money on Somphote's welfare card.

 

But there was no money left so he purchased the alcohol on credit as he knew the shop owner. 

 

Back at the house his friends did all the drinking. Bunreuang tried to get him to take spirits laced with an aphrodisiac but he said he had stopped imbibing alcohol for a long time. 

 

After the beer was finished Somphote went home drunk. This was when the trouble started, said Bunyok.

 

His friend suddenly turned argumentative and said:

 

"What was it like when my wife came to see you?"

 

Bunyok said he denied ever sleeping with his friend's wife. The only time he ever saw her at his house was when the couple were together or with Somphote, he countered. 

 

At this stage his friend, emboldened by the spirits inside him, picked up an axe that was lying around the house and made to swing it at Bunyok's head. 

 

"I grabbed his arm and the axe fell down," said Bunyok. "I then picked it up and swung it at him but still he came at me. I swung again then kicked him out of the house".

 

Then he said he went to his sister's house on his motorcycle where he was arrested by police.

 

He has been detained.

and that is exactly what the welfare card is for 

 

Similar in the UK were people are crying poverty and using foodbanks while smoking and drinking their money away

I partly agree with you but even poor people deserve some alcohol to relax themselves. I don't like it but for plenty of people its the only enjoyment they have.

Ever notice when something like this happens, alcohol is most usually involved.

Yes but people always start to go on about other drugs if something happens but never with alcohol. I wonder why. 

Why was he trying to have his friend drink alcohol laced with an aphrodisiac?

 

went to his sisters house on his motorbike, so he will be charged with DUI as well.
