Here's a question for the Midco's on here, I have been told that after a certain amount of Tetanus shots you never need any more in your life, is that correct ? or have I been given false info, I think I was told that after 10 Tetanus shots you don't need anymore ??

She needs rabies shots ( a course ) and a tetanus shot.

You need to keep a close eye on the wound for signs of infection. Cat's mouths have nasty bacteria and the wounds are mostly puncture wounds which seal quickly, often trapping the bacteria inside. Can have nasty results and the quicker any infection is spotted, the easier it is to cure.

+1 to this advice. Cat bites - particularly to the hands or face - can rapidly cause very serious infections. Bites to the hands can very easily introduce bacteria into joints and/or tendons. If you are bitten by a cat DO NOT leave it till the next day to seek treatment. I am usually not in favour of self-administered OTC antibiotic treatments, but with a cat bite to the hands or face, if medical treatment is not readily available, I would scrub the wound thoroughly with Betadine and head for the nearest chemist to buy Amoxiclav, to start taking ideally within no more than 1-2 hours of the bite.

you are asking about money as the number one concern.

GO NOW!!!   really, don't worry about money when it has to do with your wife's health.   bitten from a wild animal can really destroy one's body, but luckily you will take care of it today......

however, if it's over 150 baht, just throw some tiger balm on it.

i'm joking.  rabies is no joke, can kill people.

-----------------

In unvaccinated humans, rabies is almost always fatal after neurological symptoms have developed. Vaccination after exposure, PEP, is highly successful in preventing the disease if administered promptly, in general within 6 days of infection. Begun with little or no delay, PEP is 100% effective against rabies.

So can Tiger Balm! Dip the bitten area in some alcohol then in some of that Ya Naam Phrae - if it froths probably get along to the hospital, join the queue and wait 4 hours to be seen by some incompetent intern. If she starts frothing at the mouth, go private.

A relative of my wife got bitten on the legs by a wild cat recently. I was there when it happened and said "rabies". She just went indoors, cleaned the wounds and came out again. I again mentioned "rabies?" but nobody seemed to bother so I gave up. She is fine today.

Where are all these ‘wild cats’ coming from?

Or are we referring to domestic cats?
