Wissanu likens new government to ship that can sink if not taken cared for

 

 

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam has likened the new government, which is yet to be set up, to a large steel ship, carrying both people and cargo, which can go rusty and sink if the rust is ignored.

 

The best way to protect the steel ship from rust is for everyone on board to do their jobs properly, he added.

 

Dr. Wissanu disclosed that he had already completed the formal documents required by all would-be ministers, but did not know which cabinet post he would be assigned, saying jokingly that he might be named the energy minister.

Surely the rust is the old guard, unelected former NCPO members who shouldn't be anywhere near the cabinet of a democratically elected government. And many people really would like to get rid of that rust.

Unless preventative actions have been taken against 'corrosion', before the ship sails, it will be a never ending battle. If the prime coat isn't properly adhered to the steel, holes will appear before long, particularly in the saline atmosphere of Thai politics. 

 

And as for the protection, you need people that are properly qualified at that particular job for it to work. Not just cosmetic paint jobs.....................

Calling the old guard rust is far too PC and polite, there are many better descriptions that are more appropriate....
