For you it may be a few times a year, but I am sure there are others that have to do it considerable more than a few times. If you had to do it 20 or 30 times a year you might react slightly differently. 

Does anyone know what happens if you are on a week long school trip with 200 mainly international students? (under 18) and 25 foreign teachers?

I move around at least twice a month, and need to check in hotels during my travels. I have not been able to register online (waiting for passwords), and my IO is 60 km away. Not pathetic at all, this TM 30 system is not working for me.

Surely it should be everytime a foreigner goes away to anywhere else even inside a province? Otherwise how would they keep track of address within a province?

It's not designed to work for you though is it? It's designed to make sure Immigration know where people are - it's mainly designed to keep track of the migrant workers who probably outnumber the full time expats by 20 to 1 but those expats are also foreigners so we all have to do the same

 

No I agree it's not a good system but some of the comments I have seen on here really are pathetic - getting petitions etc from people who really think that the Govt will listen to the complaints really is laughable

Unfortunately the system is overloaded now and many people who try to do it online find they are waiting months to receive a password and login.

I know quite a few people who are located here by their companies, but have to travel on an almost daily basis, how will it work for them ??

I already in a non compliance state of mind, e.g. I went away with the family for a week in another province a few months back, stayed at a hotel, and I am sure they lodged the TM 30 and I am not mentioning a word about it when I do my 90 days, if they raise it, I will simply refer them to my wife (Landlord) and they can deal with her, (good luck on that one), she will wipe the floor with them, have seen her do this to cops many a time, but not me, she love me long time ????

 

I am going overseas in 8 weeks and returning via another province and staying there for a week, I will go to the cop shop as asked by the immigration officer last time I did my extension, and I will notify the cops of my stay and report to immigration when I get back to my province, apart from that, domestically, I will not stay at hotels so as not to contribute to their already failing vacancy rates, want to treat us like criminals, then we should act like criminals, within the law of course, but look for the loopes in the system, like AirBnB or private landlords, and I will always ask if they do TM 30 reporting and if they so they do, I will advise them that I don't want a TM 30 lodged for privacy reasons, if they agree, all and good, if not, I will keep looking for alternative accommodation or go to neighbouring countries for our holidays, as they say, "up to you".

 

The only way I will comply domestically, is if they put an ankle bracelet around my ankle, as I am doing nothing wrong as I can see it, and because someone says jump, doesn't necessarily mean that you have to jump the way they want you too.

 

This ia a dictatorship and if anyone cannot see that, they are as blind as a bat.

So why does'nt the hotel that reports your presence tell Immigration how long you are staying for or is that too easy lol

What difference would that make ? you could tell them 1 week and stay one day. As soon as another TM30 is lodged, immigration knows you are not at the last place and have arrived at a new place.

They wanted to know where aliens are staying when in their country ... they still want to know where aliens are staying while in their country.

Yes i went to Kanchanaburi mates told me had to do,lady at immigration office told me could not do at local police station as i am within 100 km of Phetchabun immigration.

Traveled all over Thailand frequently for over 30 years, and never filed a one. I don't intend to start now!

This is like enforcing laws about not being able to think about things. Cmon, really... this is not rocket science. 

 

Last month I applied for a business visa extension at CM. The week before that I flew in from overseas and spent 2 nights in BKK with my gf at her family's house before going on to CM. When in BKK I did not submit a TM30 because the landlord is my FIL who is a frail elderly man and I'm not about to drag him across town to CW. Then flew to CM, off to CM immigration, did my TM30 there and then went for visa extension with my papers stack (keeps growing every year despite us trying to keep up with their rules and not breaking any laws). 

 

The staff looked through the stack and asked lots of stupid questions one of which was this:

 

"Where your TM30 from Bangkok? Your landing stamp in Bangkok on this day, you apply for TM30 in Chiang Mai 4 days later which means you stayed Bangkok overnight. Where's the old TM30?"

 

After a lot of back and forth and trying hard to keep my composure they eventually refused to accept my documents. A bunch of extra things needed they said. One of which was a letter explaining why I did not apply for a TM30 in Bangkok, together with copies of my flights from overseas into BKK and domestic flight from BKK into CM. Then they will think about it.

 

This is after years of trying to run a business and desperately jumping through their hoops. Now I'm sitting and waiting for their answer hoping that after literally thousands of sheets of signed documents the thing that doesn't kill it all is one instance of this insane TM30 crap.

 

Regardless of whether their response is positive this year I'm making my exit plans. Simply too much bs to deal with.

 

 

he even gives you guys the "answer" in the article. he writes he goes out of town, but his immigration officers can follow him on social media. but they cant do that for most all of you!

 

he did not write that for fun. he is telling you, without actually telling you, to sluff this tm30 crap off. 

it is a problem if your immigration office is 70 km away - and don't even mention trying to register at local police station.

Next they will make a new TM30-1 form...

To be filled out before you travel, and to ask permission to travel.

That is precisely what I did! Unfortunately as you can see from my post above the result is that I now have to prepare myself for the very real possibility of having to close my company, let go of all my staff, say goodbye to my partner and make room for the short term Indians and Chinese!! The IO was very clear that my neglect of one TM30 has created a real problem and there is no guarantee that I will get my extension this year!

It’s hardly going to improve their slowly sinking economy,

not a good way to increase domestic tourism at all.

I used to travel , now I can’t be bothered, turning up for a day at immigration........sorry hotel owners and restaurant , retail shop owners......they wish to keep people away........really stupid way to tank the economy............oh, but not the economy of the immigration department officers, their pockets are bulging..
