Centenarian believes in slathering herself in turmeric after showering

Thai media seems to be having a week of meeting old folk in the kingdom. 

 

Following a visit to a man claiming to be a world record 128, yesterday Daily News caught up with a youngster by comparison - 102 year old Loh Phrommin in her hometown in Phichit 330 kilometers north of Bangkok. 

 

Loh's Thai ID card says she was born in 1919 but her relatives swear she is really 102. 

 

The media talked to her at the cremation of one of her descendants who was only 60.

Loh - who has lived through the reigns of five Thai kings from Rama VI to Rama X - was once the winner of a Songkran beauty queen prize when she was aged just12. 

 

Showing a great memory she recounted how she walked for two days and two nights to the competition and after winning was paraded on the back of an elephant. 

 

So what is the secret of her long and happy life?

 

Three things - daily exercise, a diet of selected vegetables and fish and....

 

Loh believes in covering herself in turmeric every day after showering.

They always ask these old timers what their secret is to longevity.

The best answer in my opinion was Jeanne Calment who was born in 1875 and died in 1997 making her the longest lived (verified) human ever. She said "God forgot about me".

She must be doing it wrong. Turmeric dyes the skin orange. Ask Donald Trump how he does it.

Perhaps he uses a human made turmeric paste imported from Thailand. Phichit paste #2
