Video: Torrential rain over 12 hours paralyses Koh Chang

Torrential monsoon rain through the day and night on Koh Chang in Thailand's central east was paralysing parts of the island, reported Sanook with an accompanying video.

 

There was particular concern in the area of Klong Kai Bae and the bridge there was impassable for a time and forest run off left businesses and homes devastated. 

 

Residents were trying to save valuable items from the floodwaters after it poured for 12 hours straight. 

 

Rescue work by municipal officials, army and volunteers had restored some order yesterday but there was still concern in the Kai Bae area as water levels remained high. 

 

The media reported that many trees had come down across Koh Chang blocking roads.

Try the Rainviewer app, ipad android or website. gives 1,2,6,12,24,48 hour playbacks worldwide (where there is radar available).  For Thailand shows all the working TMD radars simultaneously, way better than TMD website.

Don't worry  only a  few  more  months for the drought.

I'm sure it's swept all the rubbish out to sea.. look clean again when the floods gone.

Seems to catch a lot of rain this time of the year. I was there a few weeks ago and it rained basically non-stop while the sun was shining in Pattaya. Won't make the mistake of going there in rainy season again.

Agree, in September and even in October we get normally more rain than in July and August, and i recall reading years ago that Trat province is the most rainy in Thailand.

Also as a tourist in Koh Chang, if it's raining, the options are quite limited.

Sure looks serious for standing on the patio in a raging torrent good luck everyone????
