BIt needs be strong enough to enable me stream movies on a smart tv using kodi... Also youtube etc.

Or i can buy a 4k smart box if that would be better.

What is best wifi to get... Im on budget and dont want pay for wifi when im not here in pattaya

We have one of these as internet backup https://store.ais.co.th/en/sim-net-marathon-and-4g-home-wifi.html

You should be able to get something similar without the NetMarathon SIM (which is only 4MBs although that may be enough) and then buy a separate 3G/4G SIM.

Load some cash and subscribe to a data package that suits your streaming needs.

You may need to get a new SIM each trip unless you load enough wonga to keep it active until next time.

EDIT Alternatively you could use your phone as a WiFi hotspot and subscribe to a suitable data package.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

The place where your friend lives does not provide WiFi?

Cheapest solution would be "public" WiFi by one of major providers (AIS, 3BB, True, ...) without going through mobile internet.

Whether this works depends on location/availability at the place.

Access time can be bought through different channels.

Under ideal circumstances such WiFi provides good rates.

I checked it last time when using AIS WiFi at Central shopping.

Upper double digit MBit/s.

Did you ask her what she uses when home?

Hard to believe a Thai woman in Pattaya without internet access 24/7.

You visit your girl and you need high speed internet to watch movies. Yeah! You are doing something wrong there.
