If you don't care, how about then if prices for EVERY ITEM in Thailand were 600% more expensive for you?

 

And to those of you saying it's OK to charge foreigners more because Thais pay taxes, what about expats who pay taxes? Are they not then also "shareholders"? I have paid more taxes than an average 100 Thais would pay in a lifetime. 

 

The taxes argument is particularly silly since it's so obvious that 1) Thais pay very little taxes (which is a huge problem for the country) and 2) taxes that are paid are systematically misappropriated and stuffed into the trousers of Thai officials, rarely going to the improve the "attraction". 

 

Lots of idiotic arguments. 

Never been in one of these parks that was worth paying anything for, charging 6x the Thai price is just an insulting anti foreigner rip off, just don't go.

At the risk of stating the obvious, if 600% was for everything, Thailand would not have a tourist industry or long-term stayers. If my auntie had balls, she'd be my uncle.

I just pick and choose, walk away if it doesn't look like good value.

Besides I thought the status of a foreigner on the pink card was the same as that of illegal immigrant? Cannot have riff raff not paying their way now. I prefer not to be associated with illegals so avoid the pink cards and the dual pricers since before the advent of the social media.

I was back in Australia last Xmas with Thai wife. We went for a day out to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin). I presented my local Australian license and got the local discount , my Thai wife paid the full price.

After that episode, Thai wife no longer lets me complain about any dual pricing.

Do you realise that people with Permanent Resident status also get issued a Pink card, maybe you could look at a pink card as being associated with Permanent Residents.

Permit me to doubt the vast majority of rural Thais fund national parks. How would they do that, when they don't have income tax?

Land tax is quite high.

In Florida , I show my FL drivers licence and I get the residents price , all else pay more.

When a foreigner with a WP paying tax pays 10 times that of a non tax paying Thai, your argument falls flat on its feet. I gave up years ago even bothering...when you visit with your three Thai citizen kids and they make you pay the foreign price its an insult....in fact its an insult anyway you look at it. Topic has been done to death and nothing will change....

But Thai is a "local" discount....a fellow Aussie from a different area  would have to pay the full price...totally different scenario

Regional rules are the norm in LOS.  So are two week law changes; (then back to "as you were.")   This nonsense gets boring.

Not sure that I said any of that, I specifically said (twice) a local discount, i didnt mention a state based discount or a resident of Australia discount, nor did I mention "according to me" anything about Thais getting a discount.

So..the Steve Irwin Zoo is a privately run business-not a national park and appears to offer discounts only to pensioners.

 

There is no evidence to suggest that they are employing dual pricing-as you can see from the list.

Agree. The "tax-funded local discount" argument is ever more dubious because we all know that other Asians who look Thai (like regional people's) also get in cheaper. 

 

It's not even a nationality charge as such. 

 

It is primarily a White tax.
