Phuket officials crunch numbers to stave off island water-shortage crisis

PHUKET: Phuket Vice Governor Wongsakorn Nunchukan on behalf of the Phuket provincial government has urged people across the island to use household water sparingly in order to make the island’s reserves last as long as possible.

 

Vice Governor Wongsakorn made the call at a meeting of the provincial water resources subcommittee at Phuket Provincial Hall on Friday (Nov 8).

“Phuket people, please save water, so we can have water to use all year long,” Vice Governor Wongsakorn said

The water authorities here seem to spend more time planning how to get the consumer to use less water, than in working out how to produce a better supply for a growing population.

They will more than likely give the big hotels precedence over households....again.

Im sure thats a leak at the junction with Sai Yuan road outside 7/11 constant water there for days, do they have a number for reporting a leak

We had leak on our street. Never came. Phoned again 4 weeks later. Never came. We gave up.

At the beginning of this wet season the BOM said the wet would be late this year.  Well here we are and we've still not had our wet... very disturbing when previous wet seasons with a decent rainfall have always been met with water shortages.... how is this dry season going to pan out?  NOT GOOD I suspect!!
