Nissan Terra anyone?

Featured Replies

Has anyone test driven or purchased one of these?  I see they have a decent deal going for the motor expo.  However I've never owned a Nissan and have doubts about how the resale value will hold up.

Cheaper to buy,but at the other end the resale value

will not be as good as Toyota or Isuzu,if you think you

would keep it for a long time, that would not matter

so much.

Worst selling of the bunch for first 10 months of this year.

Probably better looking for a nearly new one, let someone else take the big hit!

The big model change (new design and features) is coming at the end of December. Hence, the good deal at the motor expo.

Never had the XTerra, but our Teana has been flawless.

Nissan - IM not so HO - is the best deal around in bang for the buck.

I - personally - would stay away from the CVT tho'

He did not ask about the XTerra...he inquired about the Terra. It is the larger model.

I looked at Fortuner, Pajero, MU-X & the Terra. There is no reason I can see to buy the Fortuner...high price, no options, awful 3rd row seat storage and horrific ride and handling. No to mention the horrific ride. Did I mention the ride was terrible??? Oh yeah, if you want to make the Thai's think you are Hi-So, buy the Fortuner. I've never cared about impressing the Thai's, but if that's your reason to spend big money on a crappy vehicle, have at it.

The Pajero also had a terrible ride, but had lots of available features, terrible 3rd row seating storage (the only way they will lay down flat is to also stow the 2nd row seats) and the price was very high...3 or 400,000 higher than the Terra. The Terra & MU-X Onyx were comparable vehicles in ride quality & available equipment and not to far off on the price.

I bought the Terra VL for 100,000k less than the MU-X. I love it and the very smooth car like ride. I did not even consider 4WD. As it is the last vehicle I am likely to buy, I did not consider resale value. Nissan is a very reliable brand in the US & I doubt it would be any different here, just because it's made in LOS.

I love my Terra, but as always, YMMV.

Also, I haven't bought a used car since 1983. But I don't buy and sell. I buy new and keep them impeccably maintained. I don't need somebody else's problems. I still have the the Isuzu pick up truck I bought new in 2007.

Correction when I referenced the X-Terra above, what I meant was the X -Trail.

This is a good review here, with subtitles.

Actually the Terra is one of the top-sellers in the Philippines, Vietnam, etc. I guess in Thailand many people have a prejudice when it comes to Nissan trucks / SUVs. Even the Nissan NP300 is better than many competitors, yet Thai buyers stay away from them...

It's a pity that Honda has not brought the Pilot to Thailand. It would be a big hit.

Back on Topic. Buy a Toyota for resell value, but maybe JoeW and Tagaa have more insight. (Also, my wife doesn't like buying what everybody else is driving ????)

Is this true?  Seems this just came out here, but has been in the PI for a while.

FYI, Nissan may be on the verge of bankruptcy things are so bad. I would not buy a Nissan at this time.

Nothing can break a Toyota , and all Spare parts available

Dream ... Tesla Cyber Truck

It is true. It seems that the styling is not what customers wanted so there is a big major change coming already at the end of 2019. They actually have stopped producing the Nissan Terra now at the plant as they were redesigning it.

Long term reliability in serious question.

And when they need repair - not if, when - very expensive.

Here in LOS your options are ...

1. buy a used one from the auto wrecker if you can find one.

2. Buy a new one from the dealer.

In Europe and N. America this has been demonstrated numerous times
