Whole House Water Filtration .. Anyone w/ Experience/Advice?

Looking at installing a whole house filtration system at main (live in house in Bangkok) ,   Google gave me the following 2 companies ... Anyone have advice , experience , do/don't etc?

Much the same question from me. Does anyone know where one can buy a 3M AP904 whole-house water filter in Thailand? The AP902 is sold here but only filters particulates, and I have one installed but the chlorine in Bangkok's tap water lately had been horrendous.

 

The AP904 does that plus chlorine and scale. They look identical, but unfortunately I don't believe they are interchanegeable, and no-one at 3M Thailand can answer anything about them.

What exactly do you want to do?

You need to have the water tested before you can go any further so you can decid e what to remove.

 

Do you want to drink it?

 

Budget?

 

Room for tanks etc.

I installed a whole house water filter system and drinking water system together with a rainwater harvesting system here in issan. The maintenance is only some some bags of salt for the ion exchange resin filter. Replacement 5 micon filters are also quite cheap, but as I have a cleanable stainless steel 80 micron filter first in the system that that keeps the 5 micron filters pretty clean.

Difficult to give a price for the just filters as it was part of a whole house water system including the rainwater harvesting system.

i have 2 mazuma 20litre filters, one carbon and one resin.

Q1. Which one should be first after supply.

Q2. May affect Q1 but should they be installed in series or parallel.

Agreed.

Any private well water needs to be tested by a specialized lab.

Without the knowledge of what precisely is in your water (not just hardness, ph level) there's no way to tell if the filtration system is doing its job, since it might not be designed to deal with some nastiness swimming in your particular well, e.g. high levels of fluoride, arsenic, pesticides etc

We are using Culligan WH-HD200-C and I would recommend it. Completely removed scale and limescale from my appliances and sinks. This is a great filter.

This the whole house system I provide and install. Dozens already!

Big P.O.E (point of entry filter) with "Eco Clear" recycled plate glass media.

Large size cartridge filter which filters down to 5 microns. (protects the UF)

2 x UF membrane (Ultra filtration) "automatic backwash" that filters down to point 2 microns.

Nothing organic can get through.

(This system is good for city water) 

If high chlorine I would include a carbon filter.

Very low maintenance system. P.O.E needs backwashing "Monthly, cartridge normal change 3 months & UF needs 24 hr chemical flush 3 - 4 yrs. (you can take one of whilst the other still works)

I live in the South but am interested in a similar setup. To feed a storage tank, that is then pumped to the house. We receive water from our Moo well, its filthy and full of iron. Stains my pool and filters brown and leaves water stains everywhere. Would you sell me the plan for this or recommend an installer near Surat Thani/Nakhon Si Thammarat?

The system is best after the storage tank. Shoot me an email.

What a great house build website. Making my way through it after just coming across it now. It came up after I done a search for water system. 

How much do you think the prices have risen to do a build similar to what you completed on your website with all the inflation since then? You got it done just in time. Where did you initial plans and ambitions come from for the build?

Prices - I haven’t kept up to date as it’s been several years since the build, but they have definitely gone up quite a bit.

 

Plans: I met with 6 architects after first sending them my detailed design criteria for the build. None of them even looked at the design criteria and I got responses like “what sort of house would you like?” Or these are houses we have plans for pick one. I asked questions about the thermal envelope and got blanks looks.  

 

Having met with a professor of architecture since then it seems that climate appropriate building design is not taught to architects here.

 

The house sort of designed itself because I was very clear what the priorities for the build were. I knew what I wanted the house to be able to do and was prepared to sacrifice aesthetics to achieve it.

 

Most people looking at the house will not understand it as they don’t understand the physics of passive cooling. 

 

Ambitions: 10 years ago when I first start planning the build, I knew I wanted a house designed for a changing climate. I wanted it to be able to produce more power than it consumed and be totally off-grid.

 

I wanted as much passive cooling as was possible. I wanted water security. I wanted a productive multi rai garden.  I wanted security designed in from the start. I wanted to spend money where it had the most impact on how the house functioned not how it looked.

 

Now I don’t have a meter so no electricity bills. I have 2 EVs and an electric motor bike all powered by the home solar. One of the EVs can send power back to the house when needed from a massive 86kWh battery.

 

I have rainwater harvesting as well as 3 solar well pumps. I have a 4,000 cubic meter pond with a solar pump to bring water to the garden and back to the house.

 

We produce a lot of fruit and veggies as well as sweet potatoes from the garden and fish from the pond.
