Sir Rod Stewart has become the oldest male solo artist to have a number one album in the UK.

The British singer's 10th chart topper You're In My Heart was released on 22 November.

But it rose to the top spot this week in a close race - with a difference of just 750 in sales between Sir Rod, Robbie Williams and The Who.

Sir Rod, who is 74 years and 11 months old, has taken the accolade from American singer Paul Simon.

No time for people with fancy titles, says he is a Celtic supporter then goes to Buckingham Palace for that stupid "Sir".

He is nothing but a hypocrite and would be better supporting The Rangers.

No doubt he will be absolutely gutted when he knows how you feel about him.

Not just me, but the majority of Celtic supporters.

When he has been a Celtic supporter for years, why should he suddenly start supporting Rangers? Surely that would make him more of a hypocrite than anything else he's done.

It's not as if he or his family are dyed-in-the-wool Celtic fans with the traditional anti-monarchical sympathies anyway. His father was a Hibs supporter and Stewart himself, born and raised in London, supported Arsenal as a boy and then Manchester United later. He only became a Celtic supporter in the 70's, for reasons he's never fully explained.

Who cares about the flawed man? It's his unique brand of music that counts.

What you are saying is true, but football fans not born in Scotland won't have the same knowledge of how Celtic was founded. or the story of the song "Grace" which Rod Stewart recorded, and then accepting that knighthood.

That makes him a hypocrite.

Can't we all just agree to get along?   Celtic and Rangers both suck.

I saw Rod when he had just joined as singer with Jeff Beck's Band. He had to stand at the side as Jeff was the star.

I did hear that Rod was supposed to sing lead on Hi Ho Silver Lining, but was too hungover on the day it was recorded, so Jeff did it.

Just got the new album. It's bit like gilding the lily, as they did with Carpenters, Beach Boys. The songs are great in their own right. Didn't Paul McCartney re-release Let it Be album with all the orchestrations (Phil Spector) removed?

I really don't have much to say about this, but that never stopped me before.

Always loved his songs, lots of covers, but they were good covers.

The  covers were/are usually   better IMO

What the heck has a football team got to do with his contribution to music ? You take football far too politically, the blokes a music celeb not a cultist.
