PM called on to resign for failing the people

 

 

Opposition leader’s advisor Phumtham Wechayachai has called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to step down, citing the Government’s under-performance, escalating political conflict and the erosion of the democratic system to the extent “that there are no longer any political standards left”.

 

• The former Pheu Thai secretary-general cited some examples of the Government’s alleged misdeeds, including:
• The Prime Minister’s incomplete recital of the oath during the swearing-in ceremony
• The Government’s refusal to clarify the sources of its revenue in the new budget bill, in violation of the law
• The appointment of a former drug convict as a member of the cabinet
• The questionable fund-raising by the Palang Pracharat party, which was cleared by the Election Commission, while the Future Forward party is facing dissolution for taking loan from its leader
• Alleged abuse of power by using the justice system to intimidate or destroy opposition parties
• The use of financial inducements to persuade opposition MPs to defect.

 

Phumtham said that the protest at Pathumwan skywalk on Saturday evening, which was organized by the Future Forward party, was an expression of the public’s intolerance of the Government.

If only it were that easy

Well yes. But let's not hold our breath eh?

He will never give up.

 

For 5 years he have this pressure. He not care. Only himself.

Maybe someone should file a law suit,they seem to be quite a popular form of protest.

wishful thinking, the bad news? he's there for the next 4-5 years, maybe more as he will not step away without a fight, he will never loose any election, change the constitution to fit his needs and he will be calling himself PM for life

It's easy to forget that what he wants is not important. In fact, he is not important though he desperately wants the Thai people to love him. If he should once lose his key support, he will become as ash in the wind; nobody will remember him well; people will only remember him as they are told to. Thus is the nature of a Thai. They are the borg, ants on an anthill.

Tomorrows head line Phumtham Wechayachai found beaten by unknown attackers.....Police have no leads and the investigation is stalled.... 

Please use discretion in your references to the government. Phrases which can be considered as anti-coup will be removed. Referring to Thailand or the government as a dictatorship, military dictatorship or other such terms will be removed.

Maybe the general should release an other song on how much he loves this definitely 'democratic ' muang Thai. Just a little while longer, returning happiness to the phrai/thaat. 555..5..5..????

And so it begins again, will be interesting to see how it will be handled without the article 44.

It is obvious to anyone with an iota of political knowledge that the man is grossly incompetent. In the 21st century the military have absolutely no right to be involved in politics and it is such a sad state for Thailand that they're so deep rooted in the whole ethos of the country. 

This list could be a thousand items long and it wouldn't make any difference. I suspect Thailand will have to live with the pseudo-elected leadership of its military gov't until Prayut Chan-O-Cha wants to step down and hand his power off to a hand-chosen faithful crony. The "constitution" should be a complete farce by then. 

Here's what's going to happen:

More and more protests will appear over time.

 

The military government will first try to clamp down on that, by promoting themselves on all tv channels again, banning facebook pages and other free speech outlets like newspapers etc...

And of course keep opposition parties sued for any and all non-offenses.

 

When the unrest continues, they will impose martial law, and a curfew again.

And maybe start rewriting the constitution, which will take another 4 years.

 

Basically, the same playbook they used before.

Rinse and Repeat.

 

Nothing much Thai people can do, if they do not want to go to "adjustment camps" or get shot like in the 70's

Yeah that's not going to happen, and he will never be defeated if and when there ever is another election. You might as well all save your breath, time, money and energy. Focus on better things - Eat, Shop and Spend ????

you can stop 100 persons, you can even stop 1000 or 10 000

but you can't stop 5 millions of people marching in the streets against you

if he doesn't leave soon, it will end badly

So they figure out a way to remove him. 

 

Just as soon as reforms start happening, there will be another coup and another military leader standing in as the face of the elite.

 

How many times so far?  Is it 12 or 13?

 

Thailand doesn't elect leaders.  They elect the public face of the real power pulling the strings.  The cheeky ones that don't dance to the right tune get sued, prosecuted, disappeared, ousted by a coup, or some combination of those fates.

This junta has reformed nothing except that which will empower and enrich them. Unlike other juntas in the past they have no  moderating influence to bring them to heel.

The junta isn't the problem.  It's a symptom of the problem.  Get rid of this one, and another will eventually follow.  May take a couple of years, but history will repeat itself.

He would only scarper with perceived loss of face from buddies/underlings (and/or certain other) through sustained unrest from the masses coupled with dire economy. That, or maybe pressure from Chinese friends. As others, even if that were a thing, unless there is a dramatic cultural change, it will simply be more of the same down the road. However, I'd sooner have a bent civilian gov running things than the bleedin army. Ain't right.

I am getting a few straws in the wind from Thais I know in the North. They all despise Prayut, and they say something will happen next year.

Outrageous is he suggesting the PM has been elected in the first place????
