Featured Replies

Hi guys,

A simple question. Were can I buy a besom that has normal length for a normal grown man so I not need to break my back when cleaning? Or is it mission impossible?

????

Quote

besom n. term of contempt for a person, especially a woman

From Scots Word Of The Season: ‘Besom’

The Scots word besom most often refers to a woman — in less than glowing terms. Rather quaintly, the early twentieth-century definition provided by the Scottish National Dictionary adds that a besom may be ‘a woman of loose character’.

Besom can also be applied as a rather dubious term of endearment, for example in the phrase ‘wee besom’, which might be used of a mischievous young girl.

... so, you can pick one up at pretty much any bar.

If your intention is outside use, most will use the bamboo stick with twigs, available from most garden type shops that sell pots and garden ornaments etc.

A lot of place in thailand have the vendor on the saleng (motorbike with sidecar) drive or pushcart around the village sell it. Like this....

They take the old one fix new also.

The trouble with plastic bristles is twofold: the dust clings to them and their softness makes actually sweeping the dirt much more difficult than it needs to be.

This is a broom, but I have never been able to find one in Thailand.  Thai brooms turn sweeping into degrading stoop labor.

google shopping shows it available for as low as 8k, but I'm not buying.  Too much for a broom.

Extendable or replaceable handle is the way to go...

In truevalue they sell imported ones from the USA. 1000 baht or so.

I found one at Thai watsadu which I can make longer like a telescope. Not bad. I will try this out for some time. But I guess the best is a vacuumcleaner. Or both.
