Srisuwan to ask EC to investigate Future Forward party over protest rally

Political activist Srisuwan Janya will file a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) Wednesday demanding an investigation into the Future Forward party’s staging of an anti-government protest at the Pathumwan skywalk on Saturday.

The secretary-general of the Association for the Protection of Thai Constitution said today that three core leaders of the Future Forward party, namely party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, party secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokkul and party spokeswoman Ms. Pannika Wanich, were present at and led the rally.

He said he thought the three had violated the Political Party Act, which bans political parties from staging protests or rallies. If found at fault by the EC, the case will be submitted to the Constitutional Court and, if the EC’s finding is confirmed by the court, the party leaders will face a jail terms of up to 10 years and/or a fine of up to 200,000 baht and their voting rights may be withdrawn.

Srisuwan said that, by staging the protest, the Future Forward party "had resorted to undemocratic means to put pressure on the government."

Should read "had resorted to undemocratic means to put pressure on the undemocratic government"

This idiot never stops. If you're so concerned about the constitution then keep pressuring Prayuth who is still in violation of it as he never correctly swore to uphold it.

I can't fathom where tgis pathetic man gets off, to be so wilfully stupid and ignorant is scary frankly.

Where is the malace?  Where are the damages?  The only damage will be to military man babies once they are ousted from cushy government jobs.

He's absolutely correct. Freedom of speech, freedom to gather and freedom to organise have NO place in a democracy.

What voting rights?

No "if" about it.

the Association for the Protection of Thai Constitution

has changed it's name to "Association for the Protection of the Special Thai-Style Democracy which through its military-appointed Government funds the Association for the Protection of the Thai Constipation", in Thai it's even longer!

The above is fake news of course, don't share it or Prayut will give you a kiss.

Are FFP deliberately breaking laws to provoke something?

Seems strange that well known rules/laws are being ignored?

Or having been caught out on two mistakes, the media shares and political party loans, is the leader trying to "do a Thaksin" and intimidate the courts prior to the verdict and possible consequences.

The murky world of politics!

If that happens turmoil will reign in the streets again... a political move too far!

Part of this man's role is - Protection of Thai Constitution

The very constitution that this undemocratic military government deliberately didn't swear to uphold and has been rewritten more times that any other country in modern history.

A basic human right of freedom of speech is clearly still illegal here.

The Political Party Act didn’t cover flashmob. Nothing was organized and they dispersed. Thanathorn just tweeted and the people assembly. But that would never prevent the EC to do their bidding for the junta government like the FFP loan case.

If FFP think that if/when they are thrown in jail for this, that the Thai people will rise up in protest........They are mistaken!!!

Thai people are too apathetic, and are also too afraid to do anything to give them freedom from this regime!!! ????????????
