Alleyway Dogs

Featured Replies

How do you all deal with these street dogs?

Everyday i get chased by these dogs on my motorcycle around my neighborhood. There are packs of them just roaming everywhere. Sometimes i walk alone at night down the alleyways and the dogs bark at me and follow me but seem to ease off when i just ignore them and look behind me often to make sure they're not too close. This still worries me though as they might become aggressive.  When i'm on my motorcycle it's a different story, i get chased three or four times in a day by these mongrels. Happens to everybody around the neighborhood who chooses to drive here at night. It seems people who come around here no longer take this route because the dogs seemed to have claimed this road at their territory. This is truly becoming annoying.

Clearly !   I wonder why so many people whining about stray dogs when they actually have never been a problem for me or any of my friends ! what's wrong with you whining little girls ?

  • If the dogs have been successful rerouting traffic I’d start feeding them.    Try not to appear frightened of them.    When you’re walking you might be nice to them.

Yes, that's the way to do it. After a few days, they'll 'know' you and won't bother you anymore.

Same in our village at night dogs seem to be protecting their area. Strangely enough if I ride my wife’s Qbit they don’t bother but any

of the other 3 motos they chase me every time. But only at night

Try not to appear frightened of them.

When you’re walking you might be nice to them.

If they are dangerous then you can spray them with a water squirter (plant sprayer for example), you can add a little chili to the water if they are very aggressive.

or feed them as others have suggested - and make friends with them.

an anti-aggression bomb.
I admit that I tried the food, but apparently, it was not too effective, the dogs are fed by the one given to them by these unfortunate pedestrians or bikers.
On the other hand, the mini umbrella which opens at one stroke scares the dogs and protects your knurls.
Happy new year 2020.

“How do you all deal with these street dogs?” Help everyone all the neighbors feed them and take care of them that’s how.

You are not the only one with this problem, this week some stray dogs come in my garden and kill two chickens.

Everymorning I go cycling with my bike, I have a big bottle with concentrated vinegar.

When the dogs try  to attack me I spray some of this vinegar into their eyes.

How to make concentrated vinegar? Boiling.

Ask your Postman.......

Or the garbage collector.

Just ignore them mate, i've been here for 10 yesrs, and some of them stil bark at me, AND everyone else, but most of them think what the hell after a while and leave me alone

My daughter in-law in US works animal adoption center 15+ years. I asked her what they do with aggressive dogs if the get to close ..

she said spray them with water. In sure they probably use a hose.

you try a spray bottle. I was in Mexico on my Harley with a side hack down dirt on,y road I could take and a angry big dog was

near me I threw my drinking water at him that kept him away.

finally the owner came out and controlled him and I left..

Try it hope it works... I’ve thought of water with a little vinegar in spray bottle. At night I avoid it if at all possible they get territorial..

Been here 16 years and never have a problem because I dont notice them so they leave me alone.  Generally speaking only people who fear dogs have problems with them.  Just ignore them and they will ignore you.

Buy a squirt gun and fill it with vinegar. They will soon stop chasing you once you give them a squirt or two in the face.

and if you have such problems, why not checking the area before renting or buying a house ?

you are the source of the problem and not even being able to understand it !

So true !

But when will people grow up ?! it's incredible to be old and know nothing ! Just as the locals and their idiot parents not even able to teach them how to deal with dogs...

Treating aggressive dogs with more aggression will never work. Being friendly towards a dog will be rewarded very quickly and before long they won’t be chasing you they’ll be greeting you. Never failed me yet.

Sriracha sauce. Works for me.

Just doing their job DJ. As already said show no fear & ignore them. Once they've established your entitlement they'll play with somebody else.

Failing that a light whippy branch end. Carry in clear sight. ????

I bought a Stun Gun, just the noise terrifies them , no need to touch them , they will Scatter, it saved me and my ff from 6 dogs attacking

On a bicycle, I used to raise my legs if they were small, just to laugh at them trying to nip at my heels.

If they were bigger, I would aim my bicycle pump at them like it was a shotgun.

Walking, I just slowly bend down and grab a couple of medium sized rocks.  Or if no rocks, pretend to pick up a rock.

The other day, one kept menacing me even after I picked up two rocks and had walked maybe 20 steps down the road.

Whipped around and threw it at him.  He ran pretty quickly.

BTW, I once saw a monk at a temple do the same thing, so a rock is certainly within cultural norms.

Don't try this on a motorcycle, you might kill yourself, 555.
