Sorry, can't post in House forum with mobile.-#####

Got plenty of unused space on 2nd floor. Flooring is wooden. On the first floor Barefoot walking sounds life threatening. Floor swings.

Goal= to make room available for mandatory daily light exercises. Ideas? E.g. Another floor, fixed to the wall but hanging 5cm over floor 1 so that waking noise  transmits. ....less. I.e. Floor 2 absorbs the noise?

Not enough details for a sensible answer.

current floor detail, joints dimensions and spacing, wall construction with dimensions of the items used, are just a few of the details needed.

Your question is similar to.

”How long is a piece of string?”

A "hanging floor" makes no sense.  One can hear walking noise through concrete.  Lay down an exercise mat and go for it.  If that bothers someone, you might consider jogging.  ????

My wife klomps around on her heels (bare feet not shoes) on a wooden floor. I seem to glide over walking on the ball of my foot. Same going down stairs.

So exercise on your feet not your heels.
