Video: 'Jazz woman' says she was in the right, blames truck driver and intends to fight case

The 30 year old Thai woman caught cutting across a six wheel truck to make a left turning has claimed that her driving was fine.

She has blamed the truck driver whose vehicle overturned and ended up in the central reservation.

One worker was killed and four injured. They are all from Myanmar.

Angkhana Kaewborisut was seen driving away from the accident as if nothing had happened. A social media campaign soon led to her being identified and yesterday she went with her lawyer for a two hour grilling with the police in Bang Khlam, Songkhla, southern Thailand.

Pol Lt-Col Suthep Chunpradap charged her with negligent driving causing death and damage, fleeing the scene of an accident and not offering help and assistance.

She denies all this and intends to fight the case in court.

Daily News reported that she claims to be totally in the right and did not see the truck driver who she blames for the accident that occurred on a slippery road.

The Myanmar families want compensation for their losses.

Media is calling her "Jazz woman" as she was driving a Honda Jazz. The accident happened outside a turnoff to an industrial estate.

Only in Thailand! She cuts from completely the wrong lane straight across in front of the truck, obviously didn't use her mirrors as she says she didn't see it, and then leaves the scene, thinking a slippery road rather than her abysmal driving is to blame! She is as guilty as it gets. Stupid too.

she did the typical thai thing and turned left at the last minute when she was at the turn off from the right hand lane without bothering to check her mirrors. Driving away from the accident was also not a good idea as there was no way she could not have seen/heard the truck, truck driver also reacted a bit slow but the fault lies with the idiot woman, braking and turning sharply to get into the turn off shows she was not watching what she was doing, nothing unusual for a thai driver, probably get away with a slap on the wrist though

Passing the buck is a national sport among Thai drivers.

Let’s see what happens, Thai Lady, smartly dressed with Lawyer, one dead Myanmar and others injured also from Myanmar !!.

I would suggest 500 baht fine , T.I.T.

Unbelievable, the crazy/ deluded woman intends to fight the case.

Says nothing wrong with her driving !!

It is typical of a hell of a lot of drivers here, have absolutely no idea how to behave on the roads, pathetic.

Should have gone to Spec savers lady.

  • Popular Post

Yep.

She is in the right in the eyes of typical Thai drivers, selfish, careless, reckless driving.

How thick can she be, there is no doubt in my mind that the truck driver was speeding and should be given a ticket, but from what I saw on the video, she came out of a side street up the road and into the left lane, then went into the right lane (inside) and then about 250 metres later decided to change lanes into the left lane and into the path of the truck so that she could stop at the petrol service station, her lastminute.com caused the accident.

Thai's do this to me a hell of a lot, fortunately for me, I can read them a mile away, while my wife is having kittens ????

All 3 lanes are same direction traffic, right?

The left lane is therefor the slow lane and the truck is trying to overtake the Jazz on the left (wrong) side.

She might have a chance to win this case.

Thankfully the court will give her a much harsher penalty WHEN she is found guilty, than if she had admitted what is plainly obvious to anyone with a brain. I actually hope they stick the stupid idiot in jail. Maybe she will wake up to reality then.

To start with it's an almost empty road, so she does what far too many Thais do, instead of moving directly across to the left hand lane she stays firmly in the right hand lane, then when she gets to her turn off she just goes left without checking her mirrors or her surroundings, jail her and throw the bloody key away please.

She was;

-ON the right!

-Couldn't possibly have seen the truck without using her mirrors (which she clearly didn't) &

-Is the only thing 'Slippery' in the entire affair.

The car and truck are in what is a two lane carriageway heading in the same direction, and there is a one lane carriageway heading in the opposite direction.

she was in the right lane (slow lane) then cut in front of the truck driver (right fast lane).

Clearly in the wrong is she, that said, if the truck driver wasn't speeding, he would have been able to avoid the accident, that said, he deserves a speeding ticket at worst. She on the other hand deserves the book thrown at her, spoilt brat.

Denying responsibility for even the smallest mistake is in their DNA

She shouldn't have been in the right lane at that speed or setting up for the turn. The truck driver in their lane was just going straight on and without knowing the speed limit or the FPS of the video we can only assume at this stage they were traveling at the correct speed.

One trusts she no longer holds a licence to drive, hope it was suspended pending outcome of case.

Deluded if she thinks this is safe, correct driving.

Perhaps incarcerated for attitude readjustment will assist her skills

The video is a reminder to all who drive in Thailand, remember to treat all road uses as potentially drunk or unlicensed nutters.

She basically admitted her guilt as she was required to see traffic all around her.  What a insanely stupid woman.

How do you know one lane is for opposite direction traffic?

If that is the case, the road markings are very odd.

I think she did see the truck half way through the turn she hesitated for a second and then continued, don't put any blame on the truck other than allowing people in the back.

Ohh, boy. The correct speed is NOT the speed limit, but a speed where you can safely navigate traffic and avoid an accident.

I think your correct.....its a 3 lane , other wise why would they report that the truck ended up turned over on the Central Reservation

I wouldn't hold your breath. How much jail time did the girl who wasn't even old enough to drive. Then killed a load of people in a van and sat round in her phone whilst they died. Food for thought.

I didn't play the full video previously, only went as far as the accident, and prior to that saw a motorbike to the left of the screen turn onto the servo which I assumed came off of that lane, (forgot where I was for a moment). Later on in the video I saw cars going in the opposite direction on the furthest side, separated by the grassed strip.

The above said, after looking at the video entirely I also see a vehicle broken down on the closest lane to the servo, so she was in the right lane, came into the middle lane after the broken down vehicle, in the path of the truck, who was speeding, still she pulled into that middle lane before crossing over into the 3rd lane to enter the servo without giving it a 2nd thought, still the guilty one IMO.

Fight the case, stupid woman,  she should  be charged with reckless driving, driving with undue care and attention to other road users.. . thats in a country  that recognises rules of the road, & anything else they can think of,  but here, who knows what will happen

Very odd like too many roads in Thailand.
The workers who paint on the roads do so by following very strange rules;
in fact there are certainly no rules.
We can see in mountainous places with almost no visibility broken lines that allow de facto overtaking;
and then 2 km further on, no turn, good visibility and a continuous double white line. Why?
I don't know ; but maybe because they must finish the paint bucket ..

The "jazz woman" is going to have a lot of trouble in court to make believe she made no mistakes.

When you want to turn left, you MUST first drive in the left lane; and therefore do not do what she has done, turn left while being in the middle lane.
But we often see worse on the motorway that flies over Bangkok.
I am even very surprised that there are no more accidents.

Thanks. On top of that a pickup truck stops at 1:25 in the video on what appears to be the road way for opposite traffic on the other side of the median.

How on earth did you come to this conclusion? It's a dual carriage and she is driving in right hand overtaking lane! Your scenario only applies if Thailand was a country that drove on the right.

Truck driver was speeding. The broken down vehicle and the Jazz lady were just catalyst to an otherwise avoidable accident.

By the way, if all occupants in the truck had been wearing seat-belts, all would have survived. It was a soft roll. She is in no way shape or form guilty of the fatality. May his soul RIP.
