webfact
Pattaya: 600 dogs taken off the streets have just been abandoned Picture: 77kaoded 77kaoded reported that a private organization hired to take away hundreds of stray dogs from the streets of Pattaya has just abandoned them at a 7 rai facility in the Pong area of bang Lamung. The dogs had no food or even water and were fighting with each other. The Hope foundation Thailand were called in along with Pattaya vets to help the worst affected dogs and take them away for treatment. Others were given vitamins and emergency treatment. Picture: 77kaoded Foundation worker Kanoknuch Phanngern said that eleven dogs had been taken away on a previous visit to the facility and six more were taken in yesterday. Discussions will take place with Pattaya City Hall to discuss what to do with all the dogs. The media quoted "sources" without being specific as to who had been hired to take the dogs to the sanctuary. Popular Post VocalNeal
The "company" that removed them should be charged under the cruelty to animals law. That'll show them. I suspect the contract or P.O. simply stated removal. Nothing about where to.

Popular Post darksidedog
I have two dogs, both rescued from a bad situation and they are part of the family. It makes me seethe to hear of such wanton cruelty and stupidity in rounding up hundreds of stray dogs and just abandoning them somewhere. Did no one, when ordering their round up think beyond stage one, regarding what happened to them afterwards? I cannot believe that such cruelty is not covered by law and hope the idiots behind this get well and truly slapped for such appalling behaviour. 27

I would hope the kind hearted (but misguided) people who previously fed the strays could support the facility . In my area there seems to have been a lot of puppies recently... cute, sad and increasing the problem.
Popular Post mikebell
All strays should be rounded up and euthanized. It's a chronic waste of oxygen and resources wasted on muck-making machines which spread bacteria/disease AND cause accidents. I thought Thailand citizens were running fearful of catching stuff. 24 2
akssdude
Hard to say what to do with them. You can't really put them down as that won't fix the situation. In a few months there will be another 600 waiting to replace them. 2

In a normal situation you would say the population needs to be educated but I guess it's easier to have countless, homeless rabid dogs running loose! They have little or no idea about looking after dogs, once they grow out of the 3 month na rak stage, interest wains and they are just abandoned! Vietnam has the right idea, they EAT them! 5 2 2

That would be the common sense and humane action, unfortunately will not happen- this is Thailand. 600 is nothing there are millions of them and you cannot just move them somewhere else, who is going to look after millions of them?

They do this in even the most noted Humane countries. Usually give them a few weeks to get adopted, then kill them. Sorry, not every dog should be out just roaming the streets.

Darkside Dog, you know that nobody in this Country appears to be able to think past stage One. many, cannot even think that far ahead. As for the rest of your post , I agree 100% with your sentiments. This will probably not end well with 601 bullets being issued 1
Popular Post madmen
Culling is the only answer, why let them suffer without food or water. Western countries do just that if the owner is a no show and can't get adoption But TIT
natway09
The cull that I suggested would have been kinder. This countries religious fervour has a lot to answer for in this regard. A rabies epedemic would still not change their minds even, it is that ingrained
ianezy0
Tag, Neuter and release back to where they came from. Keep patrolling and neuter the ones without tags. Should be substantially less dogs in 10 years? They were doing this in Pattaya not so long ago
Popular Post mickey rat
They love dogs here so much that they release the little critters into the wild on the side of the road with their puppies in tow. It's a heartwarming experience. ????
Popular Post Ron jeremy
Perhaps the government should nip it in the bud? Take care of your dog, or lose it, quite simple. Its a disgrace seeing these roaming wild animals everywhere. but then again the Thais aren't much better.

geoffrobbo
Round up, euthanize the unhealthy, neuter and release the remainder. Just taking them off the street is no solution. The strays establish their territory and if they are removed more just come in to take the place.
