I believe the cost is 5000 baht (or equivalent in US dollars in Vietnam). The criteria though is you have to do a border hop every 90 days. Given the new requirement of Covid-19 free certification plus $100,000 insurance, that must be a nightmare for those who have this type of visa. You're referring to visa, not extensions. 1

welovesundaysatspace Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 How is an expat on a non-immigrant visa “forced to leave the country”? Isn’t it the other way round—when you have a visa, you’re able to stay?

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the westerners who are now complaining about not being granted generosity, are the same ones who don’t even wanna have refugees get permits to stay in their home countries.

Popular Post anthony0339 Posted March 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 23, 2020 Guys, the problem is for expats with multiple entry visas that require the expat to exit and enter every 90 days. If you are already on an extension of stay, you can renew as normal for another year with no embassy letter as long as you meet the requirements for the extension based on marriage or employment. Hope that is crystal clear. 3 4

Cancel all 90 day reporting until Jan 2021. Close the borders 100%. you can leave if you want to. Reassign immigration police to border and lock down patrol. Too sensible won't happen 1

Psimbo Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Oh dear- only three (make that 4 now) comments from people actually IN Phuket. Any chance you other chaps could toddle off to your own forums and leave this clear for stuff actually relevant to PHUKET? The clutter and drivel really is quite annoying- I may require counselling. On that note any Brits in Phuket or elsewhere needing extensions this may be helpful- its details of how to obtain a visa extension letter. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/notarial-and-documentary-services-guide-for-thailand?fbclid=IwAR1akI7vjLNCeYl82oy9-tuF7NmqUB3T-W6JjBx3omCNQFfxzwpaWGUnwz8#covid-19-visa-extension-letter 1 1

Just fill in the form and pay the fee. But Phuket Immigration are using their own set of rules and making it up as they go along. I would of been straight on the hotline to Immigration asking who actually sets the rules, Phuket or Bangkok? Useless bunch of time wasters all of them anyway The problem is the phrase 'at the immigration officer's discretion'. Which means they can indeed make up their own rules. It was always so.

This is because of the stupid 90day rubbish. Cancel it. I have a 12month visa basically non o marriage. This is a good example as to why this stupid 90day border running should be stopped. You chose that visa instead of choosing a 90 day Non-Imm O visa and then getting your 1 year extension based on your marriage which would have required you to have 400,000 baht in the bank for 2 months before your extension application and then you could have drawn it all out until 2 months before your next extension application or have a minimum of 40,000 baht per month in a Thai bank account transferred from overseas and you would not have to do border runs every 90 days because you would do 90 day reports instead which many can do online. But by the sounds of things you do not have the money so you chose to get a 1 year Multi-Entry Non-Imm O visa based on your marriage and that does not have any financial requirements at all but you must do a border run every 90 days so it was your choice of visas. The thing that you have not checked on or know about by the sounds of your little rant is that when the 90 day border run is due you can go to your local IO and apply for a 60 day extension to stay with your wife which will cost you 1,900 baht then at the end of that extension you have to do your border run. You have not done your research very well because with the visa that you have you can do a border run 2 days before the visa expires and you will get another 90 day stamp and then 2 days before that stamp expires you apply for a 60 day extension and that will give you 17 months for a 12 month visa. 2 1

Domiciled as in habitually living in, as is the case with most using retirement or marriage extensions for whom if meeting the Immigration requirements, residence could be another term. 1
