Eighteen foreign tourists were today detained by Thai police for partying at a rented house on Pha-ngan Island, home to the popular full-moon parties, in violation of state of emergency restrictions.

Police, from Koh Pha-ngan police station in Thailand’s Surat Thani province, raided the house after a tip-off from the village head, saying that many foreign tourists were regularly gathering for drinks parties.

Arriving at the scene, police found 17 motorcycles parked in front of the house and heard loud music coming from inside the residence.  Police then entered the house and found bottles of liquor, a computer notebook and a sound system on the second floor.  No illegal items were found.

"The Russian tenant of the house claimed that he had merely invited some friends round for a drink and chat.

Police later escorted the foreigners, including the tenant, to the police station to be charged with violating the ban on social gatherings, intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19."

Well there you go then...  deport em...  problem solved... They'll never spread the virus again (in this country...)

I guess the problem with your question regards the lack of understanding of the emergency decree in this country as well as the breaking of social distancing and illegal gathering.

this lockdown is a joke. ALL my neighbours are noisey and blind drunk all night. Counting 60+ cars passing our house within a 3hour period and we are the second last house on the street. No one in the entire community wears masks, cares about the curfew, etc. However foreigners are still being targeted. This is a fn joke!! My family is doing the right thing and havent left home for over a month and now the outside world has actualy become more uncivilized and dangerous but not so obvious to most. There is more illegal logging, burning of land, farming government land, local government people stealing all the government handouts and food, etc...

Is the governemnt that broke that they need to extort foreigners only and pertray them constantly in a netative light. If the countries so bad why is the transfer rate so dam bad.

Fatty sell your watches...

sorry went a bit off topic...

This country is so much following China. Good luck with that! Even thais are starting to hate them. Like looking in a mirror????

Well make the call and have it checked out, include the fact that you have seen foreigners coming and going, it of course wouldn't be a lie.....

I went along to the local 7 for milk yesterday at about 2 p.m., and passed at least three groups of locals, drinking, socialising around single tables, and not one wearing a mask. That was only along a two kilometre stretch of road. The hypocrisy developing here is mind blowing.

Unamazeloso has been given this advice a few times already as he seems unhappy where he is living ...

If he still did not move , may be it is because he likes to suffer and to complain ...?

No.

Stop exaggeration please. Thai people can not have songkran, loose the job, loose the business, die, sick, stressful. Rule is for thai people, foreigner must do same.

Russian party, not farang party.

i don't watch porn, i make it.

actually there has been a very good benefit to the lock down for me, I have been forced to rest.

think of it like if you worked out everyday all day your muscles would always hurt and you would develop all sort of issues and you could never know the extent of the damage you are doing until you stop.

There are plenty of instances of Thais being arrested for breaking the curfew and partying. The Russians/farangs were just stupid and deserve what they get.

She doesn't have the "naughty" nurse's outfit yet.

because that's the level of reporting here regarding us foreigners. Must be guilty of something. Guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of the press and others.

Even up here in rural Issan with no police around for miles, the rules are being obeyed. Our Pho Yai Baan is being very strict with regards to social distancing and partying.

To all those who feel aggrieved that partying is going on around you, don't gripe about it on an anonymous forum. Go make the call. You have every right to.

Yes, I think most pooyai baan is doing good job.

unamazedloso maybe exaggeration, he complain a lot.

humans are not good with "laws".  some like to be their own boss.  I'm never surprised people break these "rules" (in quotes, because in their mind they change the game until caught).

hey son, take the trash out!!!  i hate you, parents!!!  oh, ok

hey son, never watch that show.  wow, i'll watch it now

hey son, don't drink in a foreign country.   party all the time!!!

especially now.......i'm not an at-risk person, at all.  sure, it could kill me, but odds are low (IMO).  It's time to get back to work, since i don't consider covid my problem.  listen, if i had a problem, the world won't stop for me.  so take precautions and let's get back at it...
