sounds to me like a bunch of residents sitting in a wide open space - how is it a party and if they were distancing what exactly were they doing wrong ?

I think they were spotted playing Bridge..............????

I live in North East, not a tourist area, as do many other members here.

I am pretty sure that any Thais that know me, or any Thai up here for that matter, will not think any different of me, just because some foreign buffoons decide to ignore the emergency restrictions in Pattaya.

I agree they must be penalised for breaking the law, as the Thais caught should also be.

While I agree 100% with your last line I am not sure about your opinion on Thai thoughts about us.  I also live in Isaan and a few months back, during the hoo-ha over foreigners not paying their hospital bills, I had a consultation, relating to knee surgery, with a surgeon in a military hospital.  As we were leaving he turned to my Thai friend and asked "does he have enough money?".   I cannot think of anything about me personally that would have made him think I might be insufficiently funded.  He must have gained his doubts from gossip, personal experience and public or social media.  Word travels.

Again some foreigners make all the rest of us look bad in the locals eyes.

While majority of us obey with current strict restrictions, some still can't help themselves.

The Ban on alcohol and group gathering is well known by all now. No excuses.

Throw the book at them, let them pay, either hefty fine or jail. No excuses.

Take care with what you say, there are clever guys on here who might interpret this as being 'your fault' we all are in lockdown and the beaches are closed, and homeless have no place to stay ????

It is not ,,some foreigners,, that give us a bad name , also the media like thaivisa are doing that . Why in the headline ,,13-foreigners-arrested-at-pool-party,,

Why not the true ? ,, Thais and foreigners arrested at pool party,, ? Big difference there , shame on you .

Any way no good word for anyone involved in these kind of things.

Media does that since long time ... hence ... why not having 'no pool' party, not giving them anything to write about?

where in the decree does it state one cannot consume alcohol, I thought it was only the sale of alcohol.

What you say would be valid if they were at home but in a hotel someone necessarily sold them!

Not necessarily, could have been a cover-charge to enter and the drinks were given away free.

I'd like a definition of "group gathering" and "party"

I you have a load of people staying at a resort like this as guests how on earth does anyone dictate who should or shouldn't go and sit outside round the pool or in the dining area etc etc - is one of the guests going to tell another - hey you can't sit here I'm here already.

It is confusing ... but remember, a week ago, with the initial 'draft' of the Pattaya lockdown ... hotel owners were supposed to tell the guests to leave, make a decision within 3 days, or something like that. Definitely not take on any new guests.

In sum total of this situation, and what's going on around me since weeks and in the news, the fines etc.

I'm pretty sure that I, for myself, can see what my current boundaries are, what's a pool party and what not ... it's not that difficult to judge.

Unless total ignorance takes over.

Not saying I don't like pool parties, I love pool parties ... I just wouldn't do it in Pattaya right now, I'm not that stupid.

my definition of a pool party in an organised event not a load of guests hanging around their hotel pool - the fact this place in known for pool parties has little to do with anything

A few years ago his eyes would have lit up at the sight of a farang. He would have thought "here comes a walking ATM".

Times have changed.

Read the article. Most of the people were not hotel guests.

if you believe what the article said

That creates other questions - how many guests were there, if they were all visitors from outside then they deserve what they but the resort has a responsibility also to ensure they are

You are right. This is a giant conspiracy to lock up foreigners. Must have been dreamed up by the 1% globalist elites in order to control the sheeple. And I'm sure Big Pharma is in on it also. Also, covid 19 is not real, but just hype by Big Media.

In the photo above, I can't see the pool table.

(from the link above)

"Socialising with alcohol (on which there is currently a sales ban) is also against the conditions of the emergency decree, “even in small groups” according to Pattaya police.

Good job I do a George Thorogood and I Drink Alone.

Perhaps the wet kind of pool not on a table.
