I don't know where you came up with that, most countries today allow people to go out, and restrict only non nationals on the way in, plus quarantine for nationals.

I think I know of at least three countries who already have restrictions on travel "out" not because of countries shutting their borders, but because they do not want to take the risk for their citizens. Irrespective of quarantine on return. It is an attempt to eliminate the virus, from the populace.

It is not intended for at least two of those countries to allow discretionary travel for a minimum of 12 months and planning for 18 months. Although they may  create a "travel bubble".

Travel allowed for compassionate reasons, some business travel if deemed necessary, applications made and approved in advance,  and some parliamentary travel.

travel advisories are in place - it is hard enough to deal with controlling the virus nationally without the added complication of international travel - you are being rather silly

I'm not being silly. Travelling OUT is not restricted in 99% of places on this planet.

Yes, of course the airports are dead empty, but it's not like all governments are keeping citizens hostage in their own countries, let's differentiate. Only a small number of countries have decided to implement that restriction.

Some of your officials even went as far as saying we prefer to have tourists that look more like us! And now you want us to come back?

Exactly, in fact travelling maybe better now as less people on the planes and in the airports.

Which is exactly my point. When they restart the flights, they can leave the middle seat empty to begin with, since the plane will fly mostly empty anyway.

You will probably have 3 full rows in economy just for yourself.

And yes, the airlines will assume flying them at lower load, otherwise they cannot kickstart flying again.

Instead of 2 flights a day to Bangkok from Europe, 1 flight per day to begin with.

Instead of 8 flights per day domestic 2 flights per day domestic.

Some routes later some sooner.

And so on.

it could have been funny if it was'nt so sad.

truth is that china is still struggling with the virus, and truth is that

thai people are not that stupid and will not be so welcoming to virus caring people,

and truth is that sentiment alone does not pay bills, or as the saying that i just invented goes:

THOSE WHO CAN'T OPEN THEIR BUSINESS - CONDUCT SURVEYS AND HAVE SENTIMENTS.

Glad to see Pattaya at the bottom of their list, let's keep the mayor's check points with specific instructions not to let Chinese tourists through!

Any Country on the Planet would be insane to allow freedom of travel to their Countries without a Vaccine against Covid19 being readily available.

To do so would potentially open the floodgates to a Second, wave of the Virus Globally.

more people die from flu every year and most people dont get the vaccine for that. so what does having a vaccine for it make any difference to travel. screening machines at airports makes more sense

Air tickets will skyrocket, hotels are out of business and people won’t forget about the long stupid queues outside immigration should they ever be stranded here again for some reason.

Maybe you should check Skyscanner, prices are the same as before.

on the contrary, only a small number of countries have decided to keep their borders open.

most countries are closed for inbound flights.

they allow people to leave , but not to come back.

This is pure delusion.

The only way it will happen is when COVID disappears completely and China stops quarantining inbound international travelers for 14 days when they return to China.

Correct.

Not sure when that will be, but probably around the same time as other countries cease doing the same.

I for one will walk a far away berth from the Chinese and will never forget or forgive their government and private sector for their bio (warfare) economic and life travesty either purposely or mistakenly released by them. And nothing can sway my thoughts that it was engineered. I hope Thailand is smart enough to not welcome the hordes of Chinese again as this is just not a smart idea.

Edit: Say my thoughts that it wasn't engineered.

Air China just released their May 1 to June 1 flight offerings with routes all over Asia, Europe, and North America. Other airlines have been doing the same opening schedule offerings up in the month of may. They most know something is coming with relaxed restrictions. Even a pilot came on the forum here and said it himself.

If Thailand needed any more bad news. Why don't the en-masse Chinese P off somewhere else? ... like the moon!

And who are you to decide who is welcomed to Thailand and who isn’t? If you are unhappy with Chinese coming here, you are welcome to, using your own words, P off somewhere else.

Either that or they are bleeding for cash.

Most will not fully refund, but give you a voucher for later use in case of cancellations, that way they can keep afloat.

Most people will fly on last minute bookings, since the certificates will be last minute (48 hour negative covid or similar), therefore the last minute prices should remain at the same levels as the prices for booking in advance.

WHAT ban are you talking about?

acctually it is not true. there are'nt many competitors to thailand.

thailand still offer the best value for quality, anb thailand is still quite a friendly place.

most tourists don't know about internal politics and the things you hear on the news.

they just come for few weeks or months, trying to enjoy the moment and than leave.

The Chinese were the first nation banned from Thailand. Knowing them, it will not soon be forgotten. And there are plenty of alternatives to Thailand. Friends of mine who visit here often times remark at how unfriendly the officials, and immigration are. They will pay a high price for that hubris and false pride.

These tourists from US anyway, go to Hawaii or Mexico for a beach type holiday.

Much closer and some of the resorts put anything here to shame.

Mostly sex tourists will still come here though.

Thailand has been moving away from the sex tourism business for ten years now. Phuket, Chiang Mai and Samui are pale shadows of their former selves, in this regard. Bangkok is more or less holding its own as is Pattaya. Sex tourists make up a very, very small percentage of tourists these days.
