cheers for your help

Maybe contact Apple Thailand. They might be  accepting repair items by post  in these COVID times.

Sounds like someone has spilt something on it and thought it best to keep quiet.

I had exactly this problem after spilling some water on my keyboard, but it can be caused by anything. It is the keyboard controller that is hosed most likely. There is a shop on Sukhumvit 101/1 between Soi 36 and Soi 38 named iPart Store. Phone number is 098-5259091. I would call, as he can arrange for pickup and delivery for the service. Be forewarned, he speaks very limited English, so you may need assistance with the communications. I have used this guy many times, and find him to be extremely talented and trust worthy. He replaced the entire top of my MacBook 2014 (keyboard, touchpad, speakers, and battery). Very affordable.

Tel: 098-5259091
Line : @ipartstore

I used this guy before to fix an Imac , you can do everything by courier.......

Everybody speaks English and they do a good job. He is in Bangkok.

You can almost certainly plug in an external keyboard as an emergency fix.

I had the same issue and found a fix:

for some reason mouse keys was enabled. I disabled it from the accessibility settings and now the keyboard works.
