May 3, 20205 yr Popular Post Checkpoints, curfew to be strictly enforced for 28 days By The Nation Chief of Defence Forces General Pornpipat Benyasri Stringent enforcement of Covid-19 checkpoints and night curfew will continue for the next 28 days, the chief of the Defence Forces said. With Thailand starting to ease some lockdown restrictions from Sunday (May 3) after confirmed new cases fell to single digits for a week, authorities reminded people to not let their guard down. Chief of Defence Forces General Pornpipat Benyasri on Sunday (May 3) expressed his disapproval of the large number of people rushing to travel to other provinces on Friday and the long weekend. About 3,000 moved out of Phuket after being locked down for a month, as they had lost their jobs because of the shutdown of tourism-related businesses. People should avoid interprovincial travel unless it is essential, he said. People are still urged to stay at home and businesses should also allow employees to work from home, he said. “Businesses which reopen operations must comply with social distancing by limiting the number of customers and requiring everyone to wear face masks. If businesses fail to follow the preventions, they could be asked to shutdown again,” he warned. The military will support police in enforcing surveillance at checkpoints and curfew compliance. Although Covid-19 checkpoints nationwide had been reduced to 312 and curfew checkpoints reduced to 690, officers will continue to enforce the rules strictly for the next 28 days in order to prevent the virus from spreading, he said. Those who travel have to experience inconvenience and have to comply with the quarantine requirements specified by each province, he said. What are they supposed to do?

This is absolutely nothing to do with the military. He should stick to defending the Kingdom from external threats, not meddling in internal matters.
May 3, 20205 yr So how does travel via car work now. Can I drive from current provience where I've been staying back to where I live in Bangkok?

I didn't know you could see a hundred years into the future. Or are they perhaps going to invade China and open those damned dams that are causing the Mekong River to dry up?
May 3, 20205 yr Popular Post Most people leaving Phuket was absolutely a essential due to the fact the lack of food and water is critical to their survival. Unbelievable...
May 3, 20205 yr Popular Post Curfew is a very draconian measure in any society and is the ultimate removal of civil liberty and very hard to justify

Isn't that why they're buying submarines? To go up the Mekong and blow up the dams? Can't think of any other reason for their being so vital.

Like normal but without the traffic. We, the Mrs and I, have driven in out of Bangkok to various provinces to visit her friends or family the last two weeks and we have yet to be stopped anywhere along the way. We been to 7 provinces in the last two weeks and have not been stopped once.

May 4, 20205 yr Popular Post Great, it's been so nice without the obnoxious drunken off key karaoke sing a song and Honda wave noise clowns until midnight every night. I think 10:00 pm is a reasonable time to stop the noise especially during the week as some folks need to work and children are required to go to school in the morning. ????

However there is a regular checkpoint on the other side of town checking licenses and registration but everyone knows its always gone after midday, so if you have the virus or are in the business of running drugs or guns, going in the afternoon is always a safe bet. I believe the local authority is planning on widening the road just before the checkpoint and put in a u-turn because there is often a lot of congestion there from helmet-less and unlicensed riders suddenly doing about turns with impunity. You just gotta laugh lol!

I would like to know if you can travel from Pattaya to Nakhon Ratchasima Province without being stopped every few kilometres by a checkpoint or several? I would like to pick up my wife and daughter who got caught by the restrictions. I read somewhere that if you do you have to self-isolate for 14-days!

Is it essential that is the big question and anyone definition the reason in the U.S. for the protest. During the lock down I felt it necessary ( essential ) the family was locked down for nearly a month while visiting the farm, no hot water, sleeping on the floor no sit down toilet, no a/c, even being Thai they finally said it was ESSENTIAL I get my butt back up here and take them home. ????
May 4, 20205 yr What are they trying to achieve with the lockdowns? If they don't step up testing, might as well open it all up, forget about social distancing and let death take it's own. The time gained by lockdowns must be uased to step up testing and tracking, not for power trips. Usurpers are screwing it up.

May 4, 20205 yr I could be wrong, but I am not aware of a curfew being enforced on any other country. If anybody can tell me how they justify, or the reasoning behind it, I would like to know. The only thing I can think of is some kind of power trip for our fearless leaders.

A number of other countries have imposed a curfew, for example Kenya, India, Jamaica, Barbados, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Myanmar, Egypt. Enlightened democracies with high regard for human rights, each and every one. Just like Thailand.
May 4, 20205 yr Dont knock him He has an important role to play here Least they found him a job Chief of Defense forces What jobs do the other 1400 Generals do in the Thai army?
May 4, 20205 yr They just look at me when i go via another province, cant figure who exactly they stop.

Since the beginning of the quarantine, I suspect that the police have been missing the tips they normally need to survive. Road stops have always been a guaranteed source of extra income.

Because he probably recognises that the police have hitherto used most of the checkpoints to wave at traffic, rather than impose military-inspired rules. He's probably angry as a bee about that!
