Since the ban on Alcohol was lifted how do you feel

Never a problem for me, I could  buy whisky and beer in my GF's village any time I wanted. Bought two cans at the shop while the ban was on.

I don’t feel any different as I’m not dependent on alcohol however been brought up as a child within a alcoholic family it concerned me that the swiftness of the ban meant those who suffer from this illness were left in the lurch to suffer the cold turkey effects so life in those households must have been very uncomfortable. Now that the government appears to have large donation from the billionaires all of a sudden we see a U turn and the ban has been lifted yet I cannot understand why they now stipulate you cannot drink alcohol in restaurants I won’t be surprised to see a u turn on this in the next week or to you will never see social distancing with Thai people only yesterday I saw four policemen sitting around a table drinking coffee in the Main Street .

No different. Always had alcohol in the house, and topped up on beer just before the ban on sales. Enjoy a drink but can live without it.

Feeling relieved that my freedom of choice is back where  I can now  go the Tesco Lotus here and buy Acohol 

Very organised in the Tesco no mad rush  as by some I have seen as if it was going to be stopped selling  any minute

I do enjoy a couple of Cold Changs in the evening after my daily walking exercise

I mean ok, shut down places where people socialise if you want social distancing, like bars, restaurants, etc, etc, but don't take away what people enjoy at home, and if people get together to drink and don't exercise social distancing because of alcohol, then get your deadbeat police force or the military into gear to round them up, not hard to do, you could start a campaign for people to dial in those non complying social distances via a hotline number, after all you have one for reporting suspect farangs, don't you.

 

I made sure that I have stocked up for 6 months, because I don't want some ill informed tea toddler taking away my right to having a drink at home. 

 

????I agree with shutting bars, and restaurants, but if they're going to do that then why not close all Street Markets where hundreds of people are shoulder to shoulder especially street markets in East  Pattaya, many without masks, .....bars & restaurants with a few customers now with plastic screens

Was feeling rather anxious Friday sitting out  by the pool enjoying a nice cold breakfast beer not knowing  how I would make it till the end of the month unless the ban was lifted.

The people around me are doing exactly the same as before 'cept they are doing it in a much calmer fashion. You can see it in the kids eyes too insofar that their parents are not stressed as [word]. The kids were starting to be scared/afraid because their parents were ill tempered but they, due to their age, didn't know why. Stopping it for Songkran was a damn good idea... inspired... masterful... but then it just got out of hand which is something to expect in the land of smiles. This child trauma will be forgotten over time but I don't see the point of making it happen in the first place. Anyway... stay safe y'all and leave no residue if you do venture out.

Yes, it is strange in some instances where things just don't add up, maybe it was a way to extort the big companies out of money as I heard they weren't going to lift the ban, then the big companies coughed up 5 million baht and 7 million baht to the government, e.g. 1.2 billion baht as charity to help the government out as the government asked the 20 of the richest, but no one came to the party, and maybe, just maybe the rich know something we don't, like where the money would go ????

Glad some of you have been able to get resupplied. Where I am we are still banned (a 50/50 or even 40/60 split between provinces lifting the ban and not I could understand but a 4/73 split is hard to fathom!). Of course, to rub salt in the wound my local Big C still has all their stocks of BW&S out on display and have even been considerate enough to put some in the chiller cabinet, for those who prefer not to be allowed a cold beer at the ned of the day. One thing that did annoy me about the lifting/not lifting of the ban was a headline in a newspaper which read: "Booae is back on the shelves in Thailand from Sunday, May 3rd to the relief of many thirsty foreigners." It was the last 2 words that annoyed me. There have been loads of videos across social media showing the mass panic and rugby scrum approach to buying booze in the shops here when the ban was lifted and I couldn't spot a farang in any of them! So why use a headline that gives the impression the ban was lifted purely to keep the foreigners quiet, not the 10,000,000 or so Thais who descended on the shelves like a piranha feeding frenzy?

Ah, of course, Thai "Fair Trading Policy". Maybe that explains it, the Governor of my province must run the Grab franchise here, that way he can reap the rewards of the desperate, non vehicle owners like me, needing to pay 500+ BHT each way to go to Nonthburi or Bangkok just to buy a case of beer!!

You couldn't have stocked up that much if you are as you say a social drinker? 6 months of beer/booze doesn't mean anything unless you say how much you bought. 6 months for some is a truck load.
