Heavy rains may flood up to 30 provinces, ONWR warns

I feel the same as you do.

Either somebodies crystal ball is way out of calibration, or they have been drinking too much loopy juice.

As for

quote “The Thai Meteorological Department expects a lot of rain from mid-May to October,” Dr Somkiat Prajamwong, ONWR secretary-general, said. “Hence, we also need to discuss with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the authorities of nearby provinces such as Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan and Pathum Thani about clearing their drainage systems.”

What have they been doing for the last 4 or 5 months? They could have been clearing the klongs and canals and dredging for the first 4 months of the year.

I check the weather reports for Khampaeng Phet province daily for the weather and for the last 2 weeks predictions it said that there was a 10/20/30 % chance of rain and thunderstorms. Last night we had the thunder and lightning a about 5 minutes of rain which just dampened the soil. That was in rural Khampaeng Phet.

Since December 1st last year until yesterday Khampaeng Phet weather centre has had 58.8 mm of rain, 45.5 mm fell on one day, 27th April.

Since many provinces are at risk of flooding due to heavy rains, all reservoirs must be made ready to store as much water as possible, the Office of Natural Water Resources (ONWR) said.

thais stumble at the most very basics; water management ? u have to be kidding; even india has figured this out

If they really know this for sure.... Then how come they have not cleared all the sewers in these areas, that are filled with sand, dust and rubbish???...???...

He’s predicting floods based on the sewers that are most full of rubbish. ????

Shame they haven't worked out a way to hold on to it !

Sometimes you see a glimmer of light in Thailand, and then along comes some blithering idiot calling himself a 5* general or a Director-General or a Surgeon-General or a Secretary-General, entirely unselfaware, and the light goes out again and all is dark.

Can they predict this so far?I see the weather forecast as not once has been it accurate! This includes Thai met app as well...we need rains for sure!...

If you don't solve the problem it's easy to predict...

If it rains, probably be floods. No rain probably droughts.

By not doing anything different, probably get the same results over and over again.

How surprising!

A bit late now - they have had six months as dry as a bone, and they tell us the rains will begin any day soon!

Mekong River is expected to rise in July and two storms are expected to enter Thailand from August to October,” he added.

Meanwhile they can't even predict accurately for the upcoming two hours on any given day!
