2long Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 Hi guys n gals, The air conditioner in my 14 year old Honda Jazz needs an overhaul. Honda suggested a new compressor and maybe some other bits. 28,000 THB isn't something I have right now, so I will look to get it done locally. Does anyone have experience of having similar work done by their local Somchai mechanic? In the UK it's normal to have air con specialists, but of course here all cars have air con and it's therefore more common. I know that if I ask the guys who do our brakes, wheel bearings etc they will say 'oh yeah we can do it' but I worry if they really can or not. Thanks in advance of any advice.
stubuzz Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 There are many small air con shops. I have many things repaired, but it does depend on the severity of damage. What are the symptoms? 1
DavisH Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 The dealer will be too expensive. I have used B-quik for this work and also an aircond specialise, but you could also use an independent honda mechanic to do it. The one I used did good work and was reasonably priced (he used to work for a dealer). If yu can't write in Thai, Possibly have a Thai do a google seach to find honda mechanics in your area. Searching in English often does not pick up all the garages. 1
2long Posted July 1, 2020 Author Posted July 1, 2020 Thanks. I will give it a go. The symptoms are gradually worsening lack of 'coldness' and now a knocking noise.
transam Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 Forget a Honda dealer. Just take it to an A/C place, they have the test, evacuation, and gas gear at hand. Ask around for a "respected" A/C shop.. Remember, A/C has a few expensive components that a shop may be able to service with recon parts. On my car it was the compressor clutch, they replaced just the clutch, all in about 4000bht..... 1
HauptmannUK Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 Its a very common car and its quite old, so any AC shop should be able to fix it. If you are intending to keep the car then make sure it is repaired with decent quality parts (eg Denso) - there are a lot of Chinese-made condensers around, for example. 1
DaRoadrunner Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 They are not called air CON shops without reason. Here is your solution:- http://www.formula.co.th/en/ It's a factory where they manufacture air con parts for cars. They also have a retail outlet where I got mine fixed for a fair price. They even made up a part for me which was no longer available. You will have to phone the factory to ask for the retail outlet address as I cannot find it right now. Or try:- Domestic Tel: +6627362021-25 Fax: +6627360027[email protected] http://www.formula.co.th 1
