Stadtler usually writes in ultra correct Oxford English.

Stadtler's writing style is not "ultra correct Oxford English", it's affected and grammatically wrong!

Just loaned 800k 2 weeks ago to my ex and guess what it was returned this weekend. It just shows you need to know who you can trust.

That was  brave.

Not really just a matter of knowing who to trust and who not.  You got rotten apples everywhere and good people too.

I divorced here, but i kept the car and house (says a lot about her). We are still good friends she helps me I help her. So she needed some money to show the bank to set up a company.

Not all Thais are out to cheat you.

Mrs. Stadtler says she is much too old for this solution but will apply it in her next lifetime.

I think Stadtler would do good in ending the silly third person speak about himself. Just one question. Why do you write your own lease? Just buy a condo in your name. Much easier!

Stadtler writes his own lease because the leases presented to Stadtler are uniformly written in poor English and almost always written more like a prison term than a proper lease.

Stadtler is in the 2nd year of his lease which eats a month of deposit in 1/12 increments.  Stadtler's lease went down.

Stadtler isn't interested in owning property when Stadtler cannot be assured he can stay here year to year.  Stadtler prefers to be fluid.

Correct. My wife over the last fifteen years has moved, both lent and lended, some very large sums of money around at dizzying pace among family and friends. And being money generated in a western country being very high value within Thailand. And only once has ever been ripped off and by her brother.
Agree. There are many honest Thais....just move in the right circles.

Let me get it right here. You worry about being able to stay in Thailand from year to year. That must mean economic difficulties, which result in that you have to rent instead of buy. You do not like the lease given to you, and want to stay in a foreign country on your own terms. You also prefer fluid instead of solid things.

Yeah, I don´t know. All I can say is Good Luck!

I’ll add to that Sundown, 3 homes rented, each with 2 month deposit, total deposit was kept every time.  After that I bought my home!!

So that was it, just like that? Was there any excuses for them not returning your deposits?

i yam vating for da lest of the list of tings da thai yar bad at dolink.

Kan putt von into here,  Thai vill alvays charge yew more dan thai peeples.

This thread has developed into a discussion of rental deposit returns.

I think a lot of people have missed the original intention of the OP - create a list of Thai-Farang fallacies.

Stadtler writes his own lease and it must be both in English and Thai.

1. You will never get your deposit returned for a condo or home in Thailand

Stadtler is a bit unlucky with the first item of the list since Sundown got robbed by nice and smiling Thai landlord of 44k not later than 3 months ago ????

Seemingly more common than most think as I know of two others who were stiffed. I think Stadtler may be off to a shaky start.

Stadtler usually writes in ultra correct Oxford English. Today not. 4 errors in the headline only.

Stadtler either enjoyed the alcohol ban too much or he set a trap.

There's the headline. Where's the 4 errors you claim are there? There aren't any.

I  married  one and she is entrusted with  about 30million baht + in various Thai investments, 1-100  is  about  how Id  rate it, her Sister and Brothers  would steal the shirt  off  your back.

Thailand is trying to reduce its dependence on tourism (certainly the lower end of the market)

Then they would not be courting the big Chinese and India tourist. I think they would prefer to get rid of the long stay foreigner. That does not necessarily me or you, but there are long stay people they prefer not to have, which is why they make it so difficult for all.

Back on topic.

- your girlfriend or wife has a Thai lover or husband on the side.

The most common I hear on TV. is don't trust anyone in Thailand you're on your own. Don't buy or give anything to your wife or her family because you 'll loose everything  although it is perfectly fine to give for bar girls.

Normally if you give the bar girls money then you get something in return. And if you don't get what you expected then change the bar girl. Worst case you lost a couple of thousand THB. Now with the wife and the family it's more often about more money and not so much return...

That's the first thing you address and you get it wrong.  Not a very good track record in Stadtler's opinion.  I'll bet you like to finish people's sentences and then decide for them how they answer.  Bravo to you.

Since you think you know all about Stadtler, why don't you impress anyone you haven't already and tell us all about Stadtler and his finances.

Go ahead.  Take as much rope as you need.

Stadtler uses the Stadtler Book of English which can be ordered from Amazon.

So many here want to find fault so badly that their eyes play tricks on them.

Your girlfriend or wife will cut off your talleywacker while you sleep and feed it to the ducks.

Stadtler writes his own lease and it must be both in English and Thai.

It happens all the time when having a Thai landlord/owner. It's been several reports here.

- if you marry you must always pay sin sod

- your wife's family will bleed you dry
