A wild bull elephant with a taste for the "King of Fruits" - the famous and smelly durian - has bust down a store's door not once but twice in recent weeks.

Siriporn Kertsuchon, 47, who runs an agricultural supply store in Huay Sat Yai area of Hua Hin said that she spent 12,000 baht on a new metal grille after a 15-20 year old bull elephant burst into her store to eat ten durian.

The same elephant - identified by having small tusks - returned this week for more and smashed the new door down again.

Siriporn said philosopically she had been operating in the area for 15 years and this was the price you had to pay for living close to wild elephants.

A wonderful picture of the pachyderm pilferer was published by Thai Rath.

With a nose like that you would think the smell would be enough to stop him.

time to keep the durians outside to avoid property damage or even better stop buying durians.
