MS Surface Tablet Repairs In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

my model is the Pro 6. and, most unfortunately, it slipped out of my hands, cracking the screen. I also need a new battery, which does not hold its charge. The warranty is invalid. need help - love my Surface ????

Unfortunately it's very easy to break a Surface Pro screen. As far as I know your repair options are either go with an official Microsoft exchange which used to cost THB20k or get the parts from China and get it repaired yourself. I doubt you will find the parts in Thailand and even if you could, they will likely be extortionately priced.

Getting an intact screen off a Surface without cracking it is near impossible without specialised equipment. Since yours is already broken it is relatively easy. A new screen assembly from China will cost approx USD110 and a battery (guessing) USD40-50 including shipping. Unless you can do it yourself then you will need to find someone locally to do the job.

If you decide to go with buying the latest model, it is worthwhile purchasing the Microsoft extended warranty (think it's called "Microsoft Complete") because it includes accidental damage and, as said, they are so fragile.

You can contact microsoft service, they'll swap out broken screen machine with a refurbished one, even out of warranty, pro 6 will cost around 15,000 baht.

if that's too much

There's a guy in Pantip specializing in Surface repair, he's moved to Asoke since COVID, you can contact him on facebook https://www.facebook.com/TrueitComputers/

thanks. Yep - i only read about that special warranty, whilst i was trying to get a quote from MS (useless getting someone otehr than their virtual agent (who is like asking a question of  White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany). I can source the materials from China, as you suggest. But first, I need an experienced teckki.

an alternative would be to advertize for a used one here at TV (with all the attendant risks). my buddy's online business has gone bust, due to lack of clients b/c of the virus. he selling off w big bikes in Phuket for pennies on the dollar. It's a wickedly bad market for sellers of any discretionary products.

I need to change out the battery on my Surface Pro 5.

Any suggestions where it can be done in Bangkok?

I see the last post above but I don't have Facebook, and it was posted nearly 4 year ago.

From what little I have read, a heating mat must be used (not a gun?) as the screen will break easily.

I was able to update to Windows 11 from the good advice on this forum, despite MS saying my device was not compatible with Windows 11, so my tablet now has a new lease of life.
