Thai PM assures no interference in justice process, insists doubts over Red Bull heir case be cleared

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha assured today that he will not interfere with process of justice, but reiterated that all doubts surrounding the alleged mishandling, by public prosecutors and the police, of the Red Bull heir’s hit-and-run case must be cleared up.

He said that he is waiting for a report from the independent fact-finding committee, headed by Mr. Vicha Mahahkhun, a former member of the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

As the leader of the executive branch, the Prime Minister said that he cannot meddle in the legal process, as he responded to a suggestion, by several legal experts, that he should invoke his special power to revive the case, which has been declared closed by public prosecutors.

Moral justice onto should be done and not only seems to be done, to regain people's confidence in the government ability to dispense unbiasedly  justice for all...

The course of Thai justice is clear...and must be followed in accordance with established procedure:

- A billionaire commits murder.

- A suitably massive bribe is negotiated and paid.

- The case is closed.

These standard, time-honored aspects of Thai justice are above reproach and …no interference will be tolerated.

But of course, lets not let a Thb300m "donation" that the Voohidya family gave recently to Prayuth, get in the way of any injustice claims.

If the money, time and effort being expended in the attempt to fabricate the innocence of this little piece of <deleted> was used toward education, road safety or a myriad of other needs maybe this really would be the land of smiles.

When a unelected leader installs himself and his cronies, justice is a rare as a pathway without pitfalls.

Of course he can before his Emergency Powers run out at the end of this month or is that the reason one enquiry has been set to end next month?
