How to repair dead Western Digital hard drive fault when not powering on

Featured Replies

From time to time we have here questions about not working hard disks.

The following video is nothing for beginners but for people who used a solder-iron before it's maybe easier than anticipated to repair some of these drives.

a somewhat easier method i will apply shortly is to take the warranty's word for it

a) if you still have warranty

b) if you don't need the data of that dead disk

Since maybe 10 years or even longer the shop does not matter anymore.

(As far as I know) all computer parts and devices have manufacturer numbers and stickers on them.

I.e. if you have a device from ASUS go to ASUS and they will fix it under their warranty.

And it's the same for all or at least most other brands.

If you don't know where to go just go to any computer shop and tell them something like: I think I bought that here 2 years ago.

Very likely they will look at the manufacturer or sticker and send you to the place where you can claim warranty.
