Three young bikers were killed in an accident on a highway in Suphanburi province.

Sriprajan Police Station in Suphanburi was informed about the road accident on Sunday (August 9) on Highway No. 340 Chai Nat–Suphan Buri in Wangnamsub subdistrict.

Ronnachai Wongsudin, 20, and Warakorn Intharajorn, 22, died on the spot while the third victim, Apirak Phoreun, 29, was rushed to Sriprajan Hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses reportedly told officials that the deceased were riding motorcycles along with the “Two-Wheel Lady” biker groups, who were on their way home from a merit-making trip to a temple in Sing Buri province.

“The three bikes accelerated to make the green light at the Sam Koh intersection, when a six-wheel truck, which was towing another bus, crossed their path,” said a witness. “The towing rope was quite long and possibly the bikers were unable to see it from a distance, causing them to violently hit the rope, sending the riders flying on to the road.”

Sakon Wutthichai, 48, the truck driver, reportedly told officials that he was driving the truck from Ang Thong to Ayutthaya, while towing the bus that was carrying employees of a factory, as it had run out of gas.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the cause of accident.

I seen this on the morning news. I didnt pay much attention, but it looked like someone was <deleted> with the motocy gangs making noise, so they sat a trap for them, by streching a cable across the road! But guess it was just a normal accident, with someone not thinking!

Many a Thai succumbs to their obsession of making a green light.

The proverb 'more haste, less speed' needs to be taught here ASAP.

I have seen a similar thing here on Samui, at night time, many years ago. A very long bamboo pole (very, very long - for dislodging fruit from trees) with a guy at the front and another at the back - both on motorbikes. Both driving one handed.

Guy on the front has the green traffic light and wobbles slowly through. Guy on the back wobbles along (both turning right) but the light had changed.

Truck driver sees the lights change and does his F1 start, not seeing the bamboo pole.

Luckily both bikers survived.

The Country, and Bus Companies should invest in large capacity Tow Trucks.  It is never a good idea to tow a vehicle by rope or cable.  The truck tow er and bus company should be found at fualt.  Another senseless accident caused by the lack of leadership of the Thai Government.  Will they ever show their citizens that they care.

making the green light! - hmmm...

Approaching at nearly Light Speed - to rely upon time dilation, to  Doppler the Red into a Green

Is it not easier to bring gas to a bus, than a bus to gas?

Oh yes, Thailand, let's not ask.

The whip round for gas on the bus fell on deaf ears..

so gang members died ?

What "gang"? I read biker groups returning from a temple after having made merit. Are you just having a bad hair day or what?

"They accelerated to make the green light, when a truck towing a bus crossed their path"? Did the truck go through a red light?

"Bikers"? Or young Thai guys riding 125cc scooters with no helmets?  Bikers, in my mind, usually handle much bigger, more powerful machines and are usually wearing protective gear, but who knows?  Sorry, but my RIP supply is exhausted.

As an afterthought, that steel cable does look rather long for the task, (IMHO.)

Do you have any additional information you want to share?

Does it really matter if they were riding 125cc or 1000cc bikes?

Impact with that steel cable could easily kill people - with or without protective clothes or helmets.

And I don't see any red flag on that cable to make it more visible.

RIP

why didn't the tow cable have several red rags tied to it so it could be visible at a distance .  ?

charge the truck driver & the bus driver with 3 counts of negligence causing death at the very least.

You impressed me !

Is that gas as in gas, or gas as in petrol? I thought busses ran on diesel.

if it was a gas powered bus, bringing gas to it and refilling it is a bit difficult. If it was petrol or diesel, the refilling is easy. If diesel, use some of the diesel from the towing veicle.

Towing with cable as long as that shown in the picture is stupidity.

No engine, no power steering, no brakes on the bus... How does that work? No thought, either by the bus driver or the truck driver.

It also goes to show, merit making is a waste of time. If the big boy/girl decides he/she/they want you, he/she/they will get you.

Yes, the driver did not comply with proper towing regulations....

but more importantly, who ran the red light - the cyclists or driver?

that is who is at fault for negligence...

What? Three people had to die because of the stupidity of some people. Out of gas and towing a bus?

Why didn't they buy Diesel and get the <deleted>_y bus running?

Nobody would have had a chance under those circumstances.

Riders watch the vehicles and were not thinking that a rope would be connected between the two vehicles.

The Killers on the Road..........

There are no traffic lights on that intersection next to the hospital. Only flashing orange.

The bikes were riding on a main road, the bus had to give way if it was not being towed.

The iron tow cable is very long, and very hard to see.

It blends easy away in the background, the road has the same color.

Long and 'invisible' , a receipt for a accident to happen.

RIP young boys, your friends gang 'BY' will miss you.
