BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has reminded security authorities to exercise patience and refrain from violence against demonstrators.

The Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Traisuree Taisaranakul, said Gen. Prayut has thanked officials of all sides, particularly police officers who are maintaining law and order during the nationwide protest. He offered moral support, and reminded them to perform their duties honestly, show restraint and avoid violence against participants at the protest. It is understandable that people have different political views. Young people can fully express their views, but they mustn’t go beyond the legal framework and they must not affect other people’s rights.

Ms. Traisuree said Gen. Prayut expressed his concern for both the officials and the protesters. He asked them to avoid a confrontation, which could lead to violence, saying that Thai people don’t want it to happen again. At the moment, many countries, including Thailand, have to cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. To resolve the situation, all parties must work together.

Ms. Trairuree said Gen. Prayut places importance on the role of the new generation; his policy is to establish a mutual understanding, narrow the gap between young and old, and promote love and unity. The people of all generations would then be able to jointly help the country advance further, without leaving anyone behind. The Prime Minister has assigned his cabinet to turn the policy into a concrete action plan quickly.

In 2014 a few brilliant songs immediately restored complete happiness to the entire country.

So..a few more now should likewise solve any 'love' and 'unity' issues in short order.

But if these irrational protesters refuse to adjust their attitudes...the General's 'action plan' involving concrete would certainly convince these thankless trouble-makers to mend their ways and forever silence their treasonous and impossible demands for free speech.

Concrete is a marvelous problem-solver.

What he actually meant was, make sure there are no cameras pointing at you when you get stuck in.

From other reports it seems that he's starting to lose control of the police.

Lets' hope that the student movement quickly gains enough power, numbers and credibility, without violence, that the police can't get violent, harass people etc.

Overall a tall order but let's hope.

He may want to call Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Seems that despot is about to go bye-bye soon. Perhaps they can share notes on how to exit unscathed.

I have a theory that anything uttered by the junta is a lie, it has served me very well so when he says don't get violent I would get ready for the opposite

It's been a long time coming but maybe the whirlwind is about to be reaped...

There will be an inevitable crackdown, bodies and mayhem and then likely yet another coup. That's how they so it here, over and over and over and over and over ...
