I do know this, my 16 year old granddaughter is talking bout it more and more (in advanced English), she's well aware of the benefits of quality democracy, the factors needed to build and maintain democracy, equal fair justice, freedom of speech and a lot more ans she can debate these items, she clearly understands.

 

We discovered a few months ago there's a small group of students at he school who have the same knowledge and understand. Many are from Thai/farang marriages.

 

I asked her where she's getting all this detailed knowledge and understanding. Her response 'more and more kids are realising that politics, government, police, education and more in very successful countries is very different and we like what we see, and many have been doing a lot of search to understand and to identify specifically what's wrong in the LOS.

When I was in Berkeley in the 60s some psychology teacher became known for suggesting that the students were mainly engaging in a sort of Oedipal rebellion against their father/authority figures; that didn't go over too well either.

"Psychologist" in my opinion in reflecting the continuity bias built into a society that the older generation will support even though it is has run it's course and should be allow fold under the weight of its own malfeasance. 

It really is time to explore different paths and the youth offer the way forward.

Yes. The ones that are fluent in English know. My daughter has been discussing what's going on in the student circles with me for months. Makes me damn proud of her.

I could say the same thing for every Government since the Taksin Shinawatra government, except when the Democratic party was in charge. Even at the end of the TS 'reign' he had become too corrupt. So say what you will, protest are good, but "Political matters are complex subjects" and students should be in school learning, not out protesting because the 'opposition' stirred them up.

The students are there because they understand their future is bleak if the current regime is allowed to continue on it's way towards an totalitarian vassal of CCP. They are fighting for themselves.
